Thank you to everyone who has backed the project so far! In just ten days we're nearing 50 backers and over 75% funded. Your support is inspiring.
Of course, our goal is largely a symbolic number (33/45rpm). It is not actually enough to cover the bare minimum costs of manufacturing, let alone shipping, art commissions, and the actual making of quality recordings, but we were always going to invest in the project too along with you. The more we reach through this campaign, the better our LP and Flexi-Disc releases will be. So with 3 weeks to go, we need you to spread the Lame word!
To help out, Decoder Magazine leaked "Other Side," the first song from our Flexi-Disc series. You are encouraged to share it under a Creative Commons license.

We recorded "Other Side" with Matt Tong at his Exploded Drawing home/studio in Bed-Stuy. This is a song we'd tried recording ourselves before, and with Matt it finally clicked. We like his style, and we have a few more songs that we'd like to record with him once he gets another break from the Bloc Party world tour!
Tomorrow, Lame Drivers resume our coastal tour with the Woolen Men [tourdates].
Oh and we got lots more new jams to share with you soon, Lame backers!
For now, some people are just discovering our old recordings. For example, check out this awesome review of Cruisin' Classics 2003-2010 at KFJC. The freeform beacon of Los Altos Hills will be one of the stops along our West Coast tour.

Just to reiterate: we've already written the songs, recorded many of them, commissioned the artwork, even made the T-shirts. We're determined do this, one way or another.

Hi Mike,
This is something that we want to do so much that if the project is successful but doesn't cover all of our costs, we're prepared to throw down ourselves to make sure it turns out well. We'd hope to at least break even from selling copies after the fact, but also very happy to finally have some Lame vinyl + flexis. If we raise more than the goal, we'll be able to put more towards things like mastering, packaging, and recording costs to make these recordings the best they can be.
Maybe we shoulda gone with 4533 as the goal (also symbolic) but we are determined to do this one way or another and didn't anticipate such a strong show of support. Thank you!

Hmmm, $3,345 won't do the job? Here's the problem with that. If you hit the $3,345 funding mark Lame Drivers will be authorized to deduct money from everyone's account anyway, which you've just said won't be enough to cover the costs to deliver what people signed up for. So where's that money going to go? I doubt you're going to just give up & give the money back -- do you have an alternate plan for re-envisioning the rewards based on actual dollar amounts? Let us know. If there's no plan I'm withdrawing the pledge. I like the project, but running with a symbolic dollar amount instead of a real one is a bad decision, and I would have a hard time recommending this kickstarter to other people for all the same reasons listed above.
