The Story and Inspiration

“In this Wood” is a short narrative film about a lonely young orphan in 1941. Miranda writes God a letter containing a very special request, and finds His answer deep in a wood behind her school. The story was inspired by events I experienced and people I know have experienced that share a common thread -- one that proved to me that what Miranda sought and finds in the wood actually exists.

The Plan

Upon completion, “In this Wood” will be entered into the film-festival circuit. Afterwards, I plan to make the short available on Blu-Ray and/or DVD. “Wood's” story is the springboard for a feature-length script that's in early stages of development. Successfully finishing this short would be the first step toward making the feature-length film. You can see more about "In this Wood" at: www.mistandnimbus.com.

How Funds Would Be Used

The $10,000 I'm hoping to raise through Kickstarter donations would go directly towards completing post-production:
$4,500 would cover much of the projected expense of hiring a visual-effects artist to create an animated composite to complete one of the most crucial scenes in the film, as well complete the extensive rotoscoping and visual effects needed in the final sequences of the film.
$1,500 would cover the cost of hiring a very-talented colorist.
The remainder of the funds would go towards the recording the film's soundtrack, including hiring musicians, the studio and recording engineer. Because there is little dialogue in "Wood," the music is perhaps more critical in this film than in others. It will ascribe meaning to certain events, contribute to the spiritual tone and ethereal mood, and I believe, be a huge part of this film's experience.
