About this project
The Purple Hulls are going in the studio, and we need your help! We've wanted to record a bluegrass gospel album for quite some time, but we haven't had the resources or budget to really do it right. With your help and support, we can make that happen!
If our target budget is reached, we'll be visiting Ricky Skaggs' studio in Hendersonville, TN, in late February to record 12-14 of our favorite gospel tunes with Andy Leftwich, his fiddle player, producing the project. This will be a mix of some old standards such as "Higher Ground", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", and "Be Thou My Vision". Also, we'll be recording some of our originals we've written over the last couple of years.
Our desire is that God is glorified in all we do, and we feel in our hearts that the recording of this album can be used to reach the world for Christ in a special way! We'd be honored for you to join with us in this journey!

Well, that would be the perfect problem to have, wouldn't it? Ha! As I mentioned in one of the other questions, the project is going to cost much more than $12,000, so any extra we receive will definitely be put to good use, and you'll still be eligible for the rewards!

This is going to be a bluegrass gospel project, and you can expect to hear exactly what we've done on YouTube, plus we're going to add fiddle, dobro, and bass!

Well, that's kind of like asking, "How much does a car cost?" Essentially, you get what you pay for. If we're going to go in and invest the time, energy, blood, sweat, and tears into a project, we want the product to be the best possible. The album will end up costing around $20,000 total, so if we're able to secure this foundation pledge amount of $12,000, we have enough saved already to complete the project.

We plan on recording between 12-14 tracks...about half will be old standards done with our "Purple Hull" style, and the other half will be original gospel tunes that we've written together or with other writers! We can't wait for y'all to hear some new tunes we've been working on!

Actually, it just means we found a great deal on a camera at the local pawn shop and we borrow Aunt Hilda's ol' Apple II to get on the intranets. Haha! In all seriousness, if we had the money to record the project, we wouldn't be asking for your help. Bottom line is this: without your help, we can't record the album. But, WE pledge to YOU some awesome rewards in exchange for your support, and more importantly, we promise to use this recording to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, around the country and the world!

If we do not reach our funding goal that we've set of $12,000, no money will be collected from any "backers". If the total is met, then we will record the album and will be contacting you to complete "pledge" prize.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.

You could easily say these folks were made to make music together. Though their paths from Texas to and through Music City have been diverse, they’re finally able to combine their talents and focus their efforts as a family. Deriving their name from the crop that helped put them through college and food on their table, “The Purple Hulls” are no strangers to the music business and life on the stage. “Banjo” Ben resigned from his job with Taylor Swift to sign a publishing deal at Sony ATV, along with twins Penny and Katy. After a year of writing, The Purple Hulls are hitting the road, making sure to showcase their unique harmonies only a family can achieve while ripping the strings off any instrument they can get their hands on. If you’re looking for authentic, acoustic-driven country and bluegrass music delivered at its best, your search is over.
