Thank you for visiting the Kickstarter page for pretty, a micro-budget feature film currently entering post-production.  Thanks to the incredibly supportive community in Tallahassee, Florida, we were able to shoot the movie for only $1,000.  Now, we need to raise at least $5,000 to get the film through post-production.  Read more below to see how you can help us finish our first feature!

WHAT IS KICKSTARTER?

Kickstarter is a platform for independent filmmakers/artists/inventors/etc., who need help funding a project.  Our project is our first feature film, pretty.

The way it works…

We set a GOAL ($5,000)

We set a number of DAYS to reach that goal (40)

We offer donors AMOUNTS and REWARDS (see breakdown to your right)

If we reach our goal of $5,000 in our time limit of 40 days, we receive all of your pledged donations.

If we DON’T reach our goal within our time limit, we do not receive ANY money.

Every donation counts.  Your dollar could be the difference between zero and five thousand.  Even sharing pretty with a friend could be the contribution that gets our movie made.

WHAT IS THIS FILM ABOUT?

A lost big-city girl seeks a small-town escape over a weekend in Tallahassee, Florida.  When her visit with a summer love fails to live up to her romantic expectations, she diverts her search for affection onto a lonely local girl.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT?

Inspired by the idea of a young female drifter struggling to substitute a new friendship for a lost romance, co-directors Madeline Eberhard and Rebekah Suellau crafted a story entwining the identity crises of three twenty-somethings over a weekend.  A brief narrative outline (inspired by 1960s New Wave shooting treatments) served as the script.

Over seven months, the three primary actors worked closely with Madeline and Rebekah to develop characters and relationships.  The directors worked largely as their own crew in order to maintain the up-close-and-personal feel of their vision in the on-set environment.  Creative space for exploration and improvisation allowed the cast to truly invest themselves in the story.  The result is a debut feature filled with striking detail and honest emotion.

HOW WILL MY MONEY BE USED?

Although we were able to shoot the movie for very little, pretty needs to go through a full-blown post-production process to finalize the look and feel of the film.  Your money will pay an editor, colorist, and sound designer, but most of all, your donations will allow us to send the completed movie out to festivals and help it find its audience.  We’ll need to pay submission fees, make DVDs, cover shipping costs, and maintain a website.  After shooting the movie for only $1,000, we know how to make the most of everything we’ve got.  Imagine what we can do with $5,000!
