For the out-of-town folks: since shipping pints for a Pint of the Month Club membership would be too costly, we're offering a six-month membership to our Cookie of the Month Club! Each month we'll ship you a dozen cookies, made in-house by Mrs. Parlour.

A pint of your choice, a T-shirt, a sticker, and a pair of complementary logo aprons (pink-on-brown and brown-on-pink) handmade in Durham by Seam Happy! We will ship to out-of-towners, but we’ll substitute some cookies for the pint unless you’re willing to cover the (shockingly high) cost of overnighting ice cream!

Remember when you could get a double-dip ice cream cone for one shiny nickel? We don’t! But you can get The Parlour’s original price list sign that was mounted to the side of the bus (way too far from the serving window for most people to notice it). If you hold on to it for enough decades, you too can marvel at how cheap ice cream used to be, back in the aughts. Plus everything at the $40 level. PLEASE NOTE: the sign is big, at 42×52 inches, and partially made of aluminum. We’ll deliver it locally (subject to the whims of our work schedule), but if you want it shipped, you’ll need to cover the cost.

Hi there,
Still haven't received my sticker. Can you help?
Thanks!
Creator Peter Eckle on September 20, 2012
Glad to see you have decided on this location. Once things get up and running we would like to find a way to incorporate The Parlour in Triangle Food Tour's downtown Durham walking food tour so even more people can "find their way" to The Parlour. As one of your enthusiastic backers, we would welcome this opportunity to partner with you.

Congratulations on your success! I'm looking forward to being able to enjoy your ice cream on a more regular basis when you get a brick and mortar store. Your exact location downtown doesn't matter to me as much as some other things- I'm hoping the shop will have a nice ambiance and be a place that I want to sit in and enjoy my ice cream, rather than heading out the door to find a park bench. I'm also hoping you'll be open until 10 PM on Wednesday through Sunday. And easy parking nearby would be a definite plus. Good luck!
Creator The Parlour on July 2, 2012
Thanks, Barry! That distills what we’ve been thinking about this whole conundrum. We obviously have a lot of existing fans who love the Central Park District, but with more expenses we need to keep finding new customers. They may be more likely to come across us in the loop (a/k/a City Center), which right now seems a little denser with other businesses and attractions. We have a major contender in each of these districts, and the biggest contrasts between them are easy parking and proximity to other businesses.
Creator Barry Radcliffe on July 2, 2012
I vote inside the loop for personal reasons. But I also think inside the loop is better for your business. The loop is nearer the current and future touristy area of American Tobacco. Future hotel density will also likely be near/in the loop. Your delicious product is certain to be on the short list for places to send visitors. Us local people are already hooked and will travel a few extra blocks to squelch our cravings.

Another vote for the Rigsbee/Farmers' Market area!
Creator Spencer Ziegler on June 29, 2012
I would love to see you placed somewhere around the Rigsbee area since that location seems to be sprouting other inventive, like-minded businesses. Best of luck!
Creator Margaret Irvin on June 29, 2012
I also vote for inside the downtown loop. Hooray for ice cream!
Creator Craig Clement on June 29, 2012
location should totally be inside the downtown loop. it would be fantastic if it was close to the farmers market area. that's my 2 cents.
Creator Tim Gage on June 28, 2012
Please, please, please... real ice cream to put an end to this FroYo craze.
Creator The Parlour on June 19, 2012
Thanks for all the supportive comments, you guys!
Creator Jen Watson on June 19, 2012
This will make all my ice cream dreams come true! Good luck to you guys!

I work in Durham and am looking forward to this! (Also, @themountaingoats sent me!)
Creator Erika Frey on June 14, 2012
BTW...I totally don't expect you to send any ice cream to Boston. Just a T-shirt would be fine. Cookies...even better. I'll just have to come down and visit sometime...the lavender ice cream sundae you mentioned might be motivation enough. Happy fundraising! Erika

As another Philadelphia expat who also the gelato of the City of Brotherly Love, I'm so excited that you are looking for a brick and mortar location! I'm not sure whether to hope that you'll be walkable from the Farmer's Market area or located far, far away: the first would be great for our tastbuds while the latter would be much better for our waistlines!
Creator David Solow on June 11, 2012
Great video! Can't wait to go to your new shop.
