With 5 days left to go we have decided to do one last push to see if we can raise enough cash to get "Waves of Strange" pressed on vinyl! If we can reach $7000 by Sunday Aug 19th we will be able to do this and live out a long time dream to us "record nerds"

The Marvin's always say that our best collection in life are our friends. We don't know about you, but we have lived in our share of places, and have traveled our way around. The memories that stick out in our minds are always more of the friends and family that we shared time with, the new people we have met and gathered along the way, and the adventures we have had. Those faces shine brighter than what street we were on in what city. 

Friends help breathe life into life. Right now we are humbly asking you, friends, to help us breath some life into our adventure, some wind into our "sales" so to speak.

The way kickstarter works is we will only get to work with these funds if our financial goal is met within 33 days! The idea seems daunting, but then I think about all of the friends we have out there (present and future), sprinkled all over the world, who we love and believe in and vise versa, then it makes me feel like this will be a reality.

                         The Marvins Goals

There are two goals we seek to accomplish through this Kickstarter.

1: To complete our newest album, "Waves of Strange",

2: Help us fund our first tour by train upon which we will create new songs and videos called "Train Tracks".

The money we gain from this Kickstarter will help us cover the cost of mixing, mastering, and pressing "Waves of Strange", and it will help to cover the travel costs of ourselves and our camera man (and resident artist), Mr. Scratch Arts.

Now let me tell you, in more detail, about these projects....

Waves of Strange....

"Waves of Strange" has been a musical project that we have been in for quite some time. It is a collection of songs we've written and rewritten that have been anxiously waiting to go home with you. We are so excited to finally put this record in your hands. "Waves of Strange" was recorded in our home studio by Peter LeClair and Carmen Paradise with our band mates Sam Rice on Drums and Jason Demmon on Keys and Trumpet. "Waves of Strange" is just that: there are a couple acoustic driven folkies like "Tied" and "Bury That Man", hard hitting grooves like "Give It Back" and "Girls Go To Venus", and unapologetic pop hooks like "People Like You" and "Two Joints." This record, was inspired by many forces in the musical world around us, and will offer something sure to be enjoyed by everyone.

A Tour by Train?

The idea of "Train Tracks" came to be when we were offered a wonderful opportunity, from our good friend Shaun Kalis, to travel from Detroit out to Portland, OR to play a couple weeks of shows in October 2012. We had been exploring different forms of travel to make our way out west and once the idea of a train trip came up the idea quickly evolved into a train "tour." We toured out west by car in 2009, the cash we spent on gas, on top of the anxiety of driving long hours just doesn't seem to hold up to the idea of traveling by train. We have traveled by railway from the west to the east coasts, and those experiences have always shined like beacons of inspiration since. 

From Detroit to Portland we will be making at least 4 stops along the way where we will de-board, play a show, and get back on the train. These cities will be Chicago, IL  -> Milwaukee, WI -> La Crosse, WI -> Portland, OR. Once we get to Portland we will play a batch of shows over two weeks and then make our way back home! During the course of the trip we will be focusing on creating music and video that will be released as "Train Tracks" by the end of 2012.

We could go on and on about the advantages of touring by train as a musician thru our eyes. (In fact, we will...a little) Train travel is more energy efficient than cars or planes, it feels safer to us, but most importantly it gives us a moment of "still" to sit back and enjoy the journey, and isn't that what its all about anyway?

About our Video

The music you hear is a instrumental version of  "Tied" in it's raw state before mixing and mastering. "Tied" is a song that will be featured on "Waves of Strange" "You Can Keep Your Highway, I'm Gonna Take The Train" is an original that is The Marvins first official "Train Track."
