Signed books received! Hardware orders shipping soon!
Hi all,
Just wanted to check in and update you on our progress with your Kickstarter rewards.
As mentioned in our last update about the delays due to binder printing, we promised we would ship out the hardware orders straight away so that you are not kept waiting any longer for things such as books, Raspberry Pis and any set up kits that we already have in hand and ready to send out.
Below you can see some pictures of the signed books we just received back from Eben and Liz Upton from the Raspberry Pi foundation. This photos were taken by our distribution partner ModMyPi - www.modmypi.com
We will keep updating, and let you know as soon as the hardware order parcels start to go out the door!
Thanks a lot for your patience,
The MagPi Team

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your comment and your support of the magazine.
You are correct that £30,000 raised is quite a lot of money, and we are sorry that you are frustrated about the delays...we are too really, and we are sorry that we can not quite make the deadlines we set out on here.
As stated on all of the pledges, none of them were going to be shipped out until the end of Jan anyway, so we are not in fact 2 months behind schedule, we are probably about a week behind on the hardware pledges as these will begin shipping at the tail end of this week and beginning of next and will be with the hardware backers pretty soon. The magazine bundles will probably be just over a month behind schedule now.
It is also not quite as cut and dry as just receiving £30,000 from Kickstarter - there is at least a 14 day delay from becoming funded to receiving the money, and due to some problems we have experienced with our bank we still have not received the funds - so as I am sure you can imagine this is a bit of a struggle and we can only thank the generous payment terms of our various suppliers to get us through this!
There is also the ongoing problem of not enough volunteer resource. Everyone at the magazine are volunteers, giving up their time free of charge...we all have day jobs too. We are currently juggling a lot between a pretty small group of individuals who are working pretty much flat out on the magazine at the moment with Issue 9, the Kickstarter stuff and everything else behind the scenes that you do not see. This is obviously on top of family committments etc. too as I am sure you can appreciate.
Anyway, I guess the whole point in this is just to apologise for the delay, and let you know that we are doing the best we can to get all these pledge rewards out as soon as we possibly can...most of us have pledged too and I for one can say that I can't wait to receive my printed mags!
Maybe if you have some spare time you might consider volunteering too?
Thanks a lot,
Aaron

Sorry guys but not overly impressed - 2 months down the line into February tomorrow and still nothing shipped - Maplin had Raspberry Pi products on sale over last 2 months .But you still have not sent out.
Surely its not down to cost issues as nearly £30,000 raised is really quite a lot so the products could be bought and sent first class.I have not even ordered the actual product as I have both a 256mb and 512mb version of the Pi .I am awaiting the Binder with the copies.I understand your reasoning on Printing and transfering to correct format.
But the product items themselves should have been shipped by now.
Everyone on here has pledged in good faith and are obviously right behind you .So surely these guys should be treated fairly .and be given a bit of priority.
I would seriously be frustrated by now .Even i find the wait on these items a bit of a Bind !!
