@ creator - Great news on the printing. I hope you all can get back to a more "normal" life soon.
Creator The MagPi 5 days ago
@David - we cant wait to be done! and then push forward with 2013 issues. once we have caught up with all previous issues, we should be running a much smoother operation, printing magazines monthly. means we can divert all our efforts to the current issue, not back issues, and things like proof reading can be done as we go much easier!
Creator David Mortlock on May 4
Many thanks for the update, it is much appreciated. Also many thanks for the hours and months of effort you have obviously put into this project.
I am looking forward to receiving the mags.
Creator The MagPi on May 3
@Nial - printers are working hard to get all the magazines printed, and we should be shipping within 2 weeks. subscriptions are planned...we hoped to get them sooner but we wanted to concentrate on you KS backers and completing issues 1 to 8 before sorting this year's issues for printing. We should have a bit more time now issues 1 to 8 are complete.
@ttcircus - see out latest update
@David - apologies for lack of updates, we have been working hard behind the scenes to both finish issues 1 to 8 and continue to produce an awesome monthly magazine. sometimes we forget to post updates because we are so busy with other things. this is not easy at the best of times, and even more so when completely volunteer run. we are doing our very best, and once again thank you for your patience. we underestimated the task, and have been working hard to catch up, and if you see our latest update you will see that the wait is nearly over...
@Mark - thanks for your support, and your trust in our project. we would never let you down we just underestimated what has turned out to be a mammoth task. it will be a weight off all of our shoulders to have these complete and with our backers!
Creator David Mortlock on May 3
I don't believe any one is pushing here for the final product. What you will find is people wanting regular updates.
A regular weekly update costs no money and only a little time so it would not put the project back.
Promising news in a couple of weeks and then keeping quiet does not foster good relations with the backers IMHO
Remember that the 616 backers will stay with you for your next project if you keep them informed (good or bad news). They will go elsewhere next time if they are feeling ignored.
Please, we are jusy asking for a few moments of your time.
Creator Mark Richardson on May 2
Think it's fair to assume that for 'volunteers' they're making their way through previously unexplored territory. While I look forward to the end result, I think that rushing things will increase the chance of a misstep. Take your time . . we're in a hurry :D Pressuring volunteers NEVER helps anything.
I paid to back this out of a sense of trust of the community, I still have mine.
I'm curious to hear the current interest level of the MagPi physical copies.
Not that we're your board of directors, but hearing about rough ideas about future possibilities for distribution might give you some good feedback about the continued interest level. But (I know), first things first.
Creator David Mortlock on May 2
@creator
Nearly 5 weeks ago you said you would have good news in about 2 weeks and thanked me for my patience.
Over 2 weeks ago you told us that the last 2 copies would be going to the printers by the end of the week.
No news since then makes me assume that any news you do have is not good.
Please can you update us?
Creator ttcircus on April 30
hello! any updates? ETA?
thanks
Creator Nial Pearce on April 28
Any progress guys? Did the final 2 issues get to the printers last week?
Still seriously looking forward to receiving this set!
Have you decided what your doing with this years issues? There was talk of subscriptions but haven't seen it mentioned for a while. I hope that happens. I have been staying away from the online version so I can enjoy it more if the 2 issues from this year also get published.
Keep up the great work, I know you guys are overloaded with work and under manned, If I could help in anyway then I would, please let me know if you need assistance of any kind!
Creator The MagPi on March 31
Thanks for your patience David!
@Milles - the PDF copies are available to view online at our website www.themagpi.com
@Nathan - see latest update, sorry for the lack of contact
@Homer - Thank you so much for your support, and for your patience, the rewards should be with you soon as we are just putting the finishing touches on the magazines ready for printing
@Nial - Thanks for your support of the magazine, we truly appreciate all of the backers who enabled this on Kickstarter...without you guys this print run would not have been possible. We thought we could get all the conversion of the magazines done in December/January when we didnt have a magazine to release, but with Christmas, and a massive underestimation of the amount of work we had to do (and a lack of volunteers to help) we have been severely delayed. Anyway, as said above, we do truly appreciate you KS backers, and we have something to announce to all of you in the next couple of weeks to sweeten the deal for all 616 of you who supported us from the beginning. Please bear with us - we are on the home stretch now!
@Ricard - see latest update

Hello MagPi Team,
I’m Milles from Brazil and I’ve backed The MagPi magazine since December 2012. I already have my Raspberry PI but I need the support of your magazines. I haven’t received any copies yet, nor “pdf” or any other digital files of the contents.
Please help me out here! I want to get started. Yours is a really great idea and I’m a big fan.

Today is Friday March 22, 2013. Last month I posted that I got the hardware reward for kicking in extra money to help you reach your expanded goal. I have not yet seen any great package of magazines arrive.
I have supported two projects from England on Kickstarter. Both have disappointed me.
I supported the Eve-alpha project to produce some sort of radio control gizmo to go with the Raspberry Pi. I have never received anything from them.
I have supported this project to get a copy of the Magazine generated specifically for the Raspberry Pi. I did get the hardware, but I did not get the magazines.
I don't think I can support any more Kickstarter projects from England.
Creator Nial Pearce on March 19
Am a little sad to see that Mod my Pi and the MagPi shop now have the exact same bundles that we all pledged for and paid for 3-4 months in advance and now anyone can get in on the same deal for the same price (£25 for Magazines, Binder and Stickers).
I don't get it, the beauty of kickstarter campaigns is the idea that you will get the product at a reduced price or much earlier and also get some bonus items (which in this case I thought was the binder and sticker set as they were described as "Limited edition and the MagPi binder as exclusive to this Kickstarter project". It seems this is not the case and that all of us who pledged and got others to pledge have funded your launch without getting anything extra in return.
Also this KS finished just after xmas when the pennies are tight, we (or at least I) pledged to this project as it IS a great magazine that deserves to be in print but I was broke at the time and actually had to borrow money from a family member (first time in about 17-18 years!!) to pay my pledge to you. Had I known I would be waiting till April (Which is NOT your fault and am NOT holding that against you as these things happen) and that then I would actually be able to buy the exact same kit/bundle for exactly the same price and most likely receive my set just a week or two after kickstarter backers, then obviously I would of waited.
Just feels like the rewards are now not rewards but just standard merch available to anyone for £25 for their pack (within UK).
We are the ones who have waited patiently and supported you guys 110% due to it being such a great project, even after a good few delays, but now we cant even say "hey look, I got a cool MagPi sticker set for backing the project as all buyers get them too.
I love this project, the magazine and I love you guys for doing all this, but selling the product in exactly the same setup to people who will receive the pack shortly after us or possibly the same time since im guessing you have ordered all the KS Pledge copies, further copies requested after the KS ended and now a load of extra copies on the same print run for the pre-orders that you knew would be high based on backer numbers etc.. We are the ones who had to pre-pay 4 months earlier in the worst few weeks of the year around xmas when everyone is broke! We are the ones who still put our hands in our pockets despite that and handed over £25 or more to get either an earlier release, discounted price and/or some goodies thrown in on top.
A person making a pre-order now through your site actually gets a better deal, as they get all the same kit for the same price but dont have to wait more then a few weeks.
I just wanted to throw that out there as I am pretty frustrated by it. The least you could of done is waited for all pledge bundles to go out to us before making the MagPi pack available to order/pre-order or have at least left the stickers out of the regular customers packs so we at least had something to show (however small) for our support in paying to launch The MagPi.
As I said, I am 100% behind you and lobe The MagPi, I just happen to think you have made a couple of mistakes doing this when existing KS backers should get your utmost attention and keeping them sweet as O know there are some who backed the project and feel this is not right especially after seeing the same pack for sale with the same perks for same money! I didn't even know till a few hours ago when someone I know saw it and emailed the links,
@Ricard I think they are expecting the magazines in the next couple of weeks. I think the bulk of the hardware has shipped but if you are outside of the UK remember it could take a while longer,

Hello!
Could you just clarify, will the magazines be shipped at the start of march, or towards the end?
Keep up the good work!
Creator The MagPi on February 19
Hi Homer,
The magazines should arrive about the same time in March.
We are working flat out to get them to you as soon as possible!
Thanks
Creator Homer Hazel on February 15
Hooray. I got a package today. A quick examination shows it to be the hardware, Raspberry Pi, etc. this is Friday, February 15, 2013 and the package came to Escondido, California! 8>). The magazine will show up later, I am sure!
Creator The MagPi on February 11
Hi Martin and Patrick,
We have both of your survey responses, so rest assured that you will be receiving your pledge rewards shortly.
Martin - you are a hardware backer, so your hardware items will be going out this week and the mags will follow towards the end of this month/beginning of next.
Patrick - sorry for the delay, we are working hard to get the magazine bundles printed and shipped as soon as we can. Please bear with us and we will update both on Kickstarter and on our Facebook page with any progress that is made.
Thanks a lot to everyone for your patience!
Creator Martin Engqvist on February 10
It would be really nice to get an email confirmation that you have my address and that the stuff will be sent eventually. I filled out the appropriate form with my address, by I never got any confirmation mail or anything. Now I'm worried that I'm not gonna get my stuff...
Creator Patrick Young on February 10
still waiting for my xmas pack ...
Creator The MagPi on January 2
@Robert - there will be an announcement this month about subscription to 2013 magazine in print! Thanks a lot for your support.
Creator Ian McAlpine on January 1
@Roger... modmypi.com sell a microSD adapter. This does not stick out beyond the size of the RasPi and is a great solution for those who do not regularly change SD cards.
Creator GuessWho on December 31
'Last minute' (6 hours to go) backer here. Just pledged for the MAG+PI Kit.
A thought about the Raspberry Pi cases, could you possibly make them a bit longer then necessary?
When you run a Raspberry Pi bare naked with a standard sized SD card, the SD card sticks out relatively far.
If you can make the case a bit longer so the SD card only sticks out long enough to be pulled out if you need to, then it will be better protected when transporting it. So if you 'throw' down your Pi in a bag with the SD card still in it when going away, the SD card are unlikely to break of in transportation.
Happy New Year MagPi team, backers and everyone else involved in the Pi world.
Creator Nathan Bookham on December 31
Just pledged for the Bumper Pack. Can't wait to receive the magazines!
Keep up with the great work!
Creator Robert Mills on December 30
How about some last minute add ons?
Subscription to next set of Mags??
If you can arrange a deal Pi Store gift cards or goodies?
The book as an add on to the exsisting pledge
etc

Hi Claudia,
We will send out a survey once the campaign is over asking for various details including shipping addresses.
Thanks,
Aaron
Creator claudia on December 24
I pledged from outside the UK, but I want the bundle to be shipped to an adress in the UK - are you going to ask for shipping adresses later on or is the billing adress automatically the shipping adress?
Creator The MagPi on December 20
Great to see all of your kind comments!
@Nigel - we have something in the pipeline for continued support of the magazine...will post an announcement here and through Kickstarter with details of that. It is likely to be some sort of pre-order system each month to start with, but again this is yet to be finalised.
@John - £20k is looking likely now (fingers crossed), however 500 backers is a bit further off...keep spreading the word and we might be able to cross that line though! Also great to hear your back story, and we would love to see a submission for the mag of your project once you have finished it.
@Todd - thanks a lot, we are looking forward to it too.
Creator nigel young on December 16
I think, that maybe you should do a pledge for the continued support for the magazine. Maybe a subscription of some sorts. This way when budget time comes around you can do your sums and decide if you can go to print or not. If not we pledge more or less as the case may be.
A print run of this amount is less than half hour at most so I respect your printer wanting to undertake it. The more the merrier is what I say ;-)

Creator John Ainhirn-Williams on December 4
Well I would say lets aim for £20,000 and 500 backers :-)
I am sure there are a lot more out there that could go the £25.00, and £65/99 for Christmas presents should not be sneezed at either.
Well done guys :-)
Creator Todd Cowley on December 4
Congrats. You made a great product and the people reached out to let you know we appreciate it. Looking forward to seeing just how far this will get to before it's over.
Creator John Ainhirn-Williams on December 3
As someone who cut hit computing teeth on a Sinclair MK14, I think the Pi is amazing.
I have read most issues of MagPi at least twice and was very impressed but the breadth and depth of the articles you have published; further as a parent I was very impressed by the fact that most of the articles published were not game related.
Personally I am into CNC and robotics, and the first job for my Pi is to talk CAN to my Land Rover Defender, and hoping to add Sat-Nav shortly :-)
Once the project is finished I will try to submit it as an article; but me write ??? Suppose I can try :-)
Please keep up the good work guys!
Creator Colin Shaw on December 3
You don't have to post this comment, but as I live in the UK and Los Angeles (and my son is on your team), if @aje007 really wants the copies of the magazine without the somewhat high shipping costs to the USA, he could have them sent to my UK address and then I could send them to him via media mail from CA. Just FYI.
Creator Wolfjaw on December 3
I really wish I could pledge higher, but $71 for a magazine and a case is more than I can handle. I have never wished to live in the UK more than I do now! (This may be a bit biased, as I watched almost a full season of Doctor Who today.)
Creator The MagPi on December 2
Hi Yakko,
We look forward to being on the shelf next to another awesome publication!
Although hopefully we wont spend too much time on the shelf in an average week :-)
Thanks a lot for your support.
Creator yakko TDI on December 2
I am glad you are making a physical copy of these. I have yet to find a device I want to read soft copies on so this makes you even more awesome. You will go nicely on the shelf next to my physical copies of Linux Format.
Creator The MagPi on December 1
Hi Nial,
Thank you very much for your kind comments - the nice feedback we get from people such as yourself really makes the whole thing even more worthwhile! As you say - there is something about paper magazines that makes them much better. I also find it easier to run through the coding excercises with a hard copy as you don't have to keep swapping between windows!
Hopefully we can smash the target like you say...we haven't got any extra bits or stretch goals set out yet because we really want to concentrate on the printing of these issues. I guess you could say the main goal after that is to be able to sustain print runs for every magazine after this.
Keep telling everyone you know about our project if you can!
Thanks a lot
Creator Nial Pearce on December 1
This is a great project and im proud to have donated to it as your online magazine is great and im looking forward to having the 8 back-issues in hard copy.
It looks like your going to make your goal without any problems at all and way ahead of the deadline, do you have anything planned for Stretch Goals and extra bits yet?
Good Luck!
Creator The MagPi on December 1
Hi Sarah,
Thanks a lot for your kind comment! Please share this with as many people as you can.
