Update #3: One week away...

Posted on March 10, 2010

Hello my friends!

We are very happy to announce that one week from today, Wed, March 17th, 10pm (St. Patty's Day) we will be performing at one of the coolest venues in NYC, Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St.). My good friend's band plays right before us, so if you're in the city, come by at 9 and celebrate with us cause...

3 days later, on March 20th, WE GO INTO THE STUDIO TO RECORD OUR ALBUM!!!! We're so excited and ready to get in there and lay it down. The plan is to record a 6 song EP to be ready for your listening pleasure this summer. You can find your exclusive updates on the project and follow us through all the craziness at http://thelifeandtimesofband.tumblr.com/. If you haven't seen the awesome short documentary that the talented Tom Sawyer put together for us, please take a moment to go by the Tumblr page and check it out. There will be more videos and blogs in the future, but to track it all from the beginning is a pretty fun ride.

No words can thank you enough for this opportunity that you've given us, so I won't try. We'll just continue to write and play the best we can and hopefully you will feel our gratitude:-)

Cheers,
The L & TO

Update #2: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...

Posted on February 13, 2010

We did it! Actually, YOU did it!

We raised over $4,000 to make our debut album. We've already booked the studio time for late March, plan to have it Mixed and Mastered in April, Pressed and Packaged in May, and have an awesome CD release party in June!

We have a lot of exclusive updates planned for you, and very soon you will be able to follow the process of a band in the making as much as you want with a weekly blog, video updates, twitter, and much more. Not to mention getting you your awesome rewards!!!

Once again, none of this would be possible without your support. Please consider this "OUR" band. We're very lucky to have you.

Cheers,

Cedric, Joe, Lavondo, and Brad

Update #1: WE DID IT!!! New Goal... $4,000!

Posted on December 16, 2009

We cannot thank you enough for your support of our Debut Album! In just under a month, due to your generous donations, we've already raised our goal amount of $2,000! We're currently in the process of selecting the studio and engineers we want to work with, so get ready for more updates on the project that you're now a part of in the upcoming year.

Luckily, we still have time to raise more money, so we've got our sights set on $4,000! We have until February 1st to get as many backers as possible to join us. This will allow us more time in the studio to make the best product possible, not to mention helping us hire a graphic designer for the CD art, and hopefully a great publicist to get the story and sound of our little family called THE LIFE & TIMES OF out and about for the world to discover.

So please continue to pass the project along to anyone and everyone you think would like to be a part of the beginning. We're so excited to have you.

Cheers,

Cedric, Joe, Lavondo, & Brad

Seemingly out of nowhere, THE LIFE & TIMES OF is turning heads in NYC with a sound that is needed, but desperately missing from today's music scene - Soul. Selected as the #2 Local, Undergound Rock Band by online music magazine "Knocks from the Underground", their live show does not disappoint and they're preparing to record and release their debut album in Spring 2010. Singer/songwriter Cedric Lamar finds the thread through a wide range of music from Bill Withers and Van Morrison, to Outkast, Jeff Buckley, and The Black Keys. He and the band, made of amazingly versatile musicians Joe Hundertmark (lead guitar), Lavondo Thomas (bass), and Brad Meehan (drums) take on the challenge to weave these different influences into a unique sound of their own and calls the journey, THE LIFE & TIMES OF. Soul on the Rocks with a Bluesy aftertaste, their sound lies somewhere between Otis Redding and Jack White. Biting honesty and fearless passion are what people hear and see... and why they keep coming back.

"Rooted in hard rock with a heavy dose of soul and R&B, The Life and Times Of multiply the energy level of a typical Brooklyn show by 800. With singer Cedric Lamar, who can wail like Motown and jam like classic rock, backed up by a stellar bass player, squealin’ guitarist and steady drummer, no one is sittin’ still. Especially not the band, whose members contagiously gyrate and jump for the entire set. Their songs weave in and out of melancholy blues, hoppin’ twang and hard rock breakdowns, all featuring poetic, thoughtful lyrics. Be sure to have some whiskey on hand; this band goes well with liquor."
