About this project

This coming October, we are heading back to Waterloo Studios in Ohio to work with producer Todd Tobias (Guided by Voices). We will record our new album, "Works On Paper" in as little as 5 days. $5000 will cover the cost of recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, and layout of "Works On Paper". We need to meet our goal of $5000, and YOU can help!

A Personal Message from The Library is On Fire:

Hi, how are you? When The Library is On Fire started in 2007, we self-released our first CD, funding the whole project ourselves. We delivered pizzas and tended bar. We wanted to make a record that sounded like a record you would buy at the store, back when you could buy records at the store.

We contacted Todd Tobias, who had worked with Guided by Voices, and continues to produce frontman Robert Pollard. Todd is an aural genius and his rates are extremely reasonable.

In 2009, we made our second record, "Magic Windows, Magic Nights" with Todd. Later, we signed to indie label Fill in The Blank Records. The fledgling label believed in us. Once again, we funded the recording and production of our record from our own pockets. Our contract requires us to pay for our production costs.

So far, reviews of "Magic Windows, Magic Nights" have been astounding. MTV recently included the record on its Best Records of the Year in their 2010 Mid-Year Roundup. Hype Machine, The Village Voice, New York Post, CMJ,and Sentimentalist Magazine have all had great things to say. And All Music Guide gave "Magic Windows, Magic Nights" 4 stars.

Now comes our next record, "Works On Paper". That is why we need Your help as Executive Producer of The Library is On Fire.

AND THEN, for $500, you can DIRECT A VIDEO FOR THE LIBRARY IS ON FIRE

That's right. According to your storyboard, guidelines, direction, and editing, the band will produce a music video for the first single to "Works On Paper". If you think we should be dressed up as clowns and playing live fish instead of instruments, we will film it and you will be credited as Director & Artistic Visionary. You'll also receive everything else listed above.

$1000 and higher

For $1000, you will receive a panel of original collage artwork from the album "Magic Windows, Magic Nights" created by Steve Five. The panels are 12" x 12" (just like record covers), suitable for framing, and limited to 3 donors. You'll also receive everything listed above.

PLATINUM AND MOLYBDENUM EXECUTIVE PACKAGES

For $5000, The Library is on Fire will write and record a song dedicated to you for inclusion on the "Works on Paper" album. You will also have the opportunity of sitting in on the "Works On Paper" recording sessions with the band and Todd Tobias.

For $10,000, The Library is On Fire will write and record a full-length record follow-up to "Works on Paper" and you will have ultimate power in deciding which songs to use, mixdowns, track order, cover art, everything. You can write songs for us to play, sing on our songs, play any instrument you like. You'll also get everything else listed above, as well as more than a few nights of drinking with the band.

After $10,000, let's talk.
