Maria Yoon a Korean-born artist lives and works in New York City. She holds a BFA from Cooper Union. Maria is also a Contractual Senior Educator/Consultant for the Education Department at various museums in New York City. Since 2001 to present, Maria has begun working on a new series entitled Maria the Korean Bride. It is a multi-media performance designed to bring attention to the social pressure that Maria has endured as a first generation Korean-American unmarried woman. Her on-going journey across America has received much attention especially with Koreans and other Asian American communities in New York, as well as institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Happy New Year, Backers!
This is very important year for me as my 50th and final wedding is scheduled to take place this May 22, 2011 in NYC. I hope you can join me. In the meantime, I was featured on TV (channel 25) on Asian America, Jan 2nd & Jan 6th, 2011. Please see link attached for more.
Furthermore, I will be off to Detroit, MI in a few days. It looks like I almost missed that state.
So for those of you requested postcards will be getting it in mail.
Others, I will think of you as I travel once again.
Miss you all,
Maria
