Sgt Dunbar & the Hobo Banned got accepted to showcase at this years SXSW Festival but its 1,843 miles from home, our van needs help and we are broke.
Sgt Dunbar & the Hobo Banned has been invited back to Austin, TX for a second year in a row to play at one of the biggest music festivals in the country, South by Southwest (SXSW). Since September we have been working on new music in preparation for our third album, with 11 new songs ready to play live, and we have been booking shows for our nearly three week long March tour.
Clifford, our 2002 big red van Dodge Ram (purchased before our 2009 tour down to SXSW), is in need of some serious repairs. We have to get it into tip-top shape so we can focus our attention on the music during this tour and not emergency catalytic converter replacements in Tennessee .
During our 2009 tour to SXSW we were featured on the NPR program "All Things Considered" by Bob Boilen who selected us as one of three out of over a thousand bands to watch. We have been highlighted by blogs such as The Obsession Collection, The Aquarium Drunkard, and My Old Kentucky Blog. We hope to make our 2010 tour down to Austin, TX and back even more fruitful than it was last year, but we can't do it without your help!
We appreciate any donation towards van repairs and the other upfront costs of getting eight people to drive nearly 4,000 miles in three weeks. You have our eternal gratitude.
As we continue to work up to our tour kick-off show on March 10th, we will be recording demos of the new songs and putting together a new tour CD which will be sent out to our Kickstarter supporters in addition to many other fabulous prizes.
We thank you for your support!
