The Aurora Lamp

The Aurora Lamp is a beautiful lighting solution for people with limited space. Its conical shape diffuses and maximizes light while highlighting the character of the wood. The lamp looks great on a table but can easily be hung on a wall. 

Every lamp is turned by hand in Aurora, Oregon making each one unique. Built with a porcelain socket, in-line on/off switch, US cotton covered cord and plug. Finished with 100% Tung Oil for a natural and protective finish.  

Production schedule

We are working hard to have 75 Aurora lamps finished in time for Christmas delivery.

Additional lamps will by delivered by May 31, 2013. Lamps will ship as they become available in the order the pledges were received.

Funding

We've been designing and testing The Aurora Lamp for the past 6 months and have spent countless hours perfecting it. It takes 25 steps to make each one. Many of those require specialized machinery. We need your support to buy a few pieces of equipment we are currently renting to produce the lamp, like lasers and lathes.

Hand Turning
Finding skilled craftsmen and women is becoming more and more difficult as artisan trades get replaced by machines. We have partnered with an experienced woodworker for production of this project. It would be extremely difficult to find other artisans locally with the same level of experience.

Sourcing Parts
Our cable is sourced domestically by a small producer. They make the best cord we found but like all small suppliers there are occasional shortages.
The additional parts and components come from reliable sources.

FAQ

  • What kind of bulbs can be used with the Aurora Lamp?

    You can use any medium base lightbulb with the Aurora Lamp. We recommend using a 60 Watt bulb or less. We like using round half chrome bulbs in size G25 or G40 and Edison bulbs in size G30. You can buy these bulbs online or at your local light supply store.
