The Decentralized Dance Party was founded on the belief that Partying is an art form that has the power to change the world.

With your support, the DDP will return to Portland on January 28th!

Please share this Kickstarter page far and wide to ensure the funding goes through and this Party happens! The DDP USA Page and Facebook Event Page have all the details.

WHAT IS A DDP?

The Decentralized Dance Party (DDP) is a portable, battery-powered Party System. It consists of hundreds of Party people, carrying boomboxes, and a DJ who wears a backpack, containing an FM transmitter. All the boomboxes are tuned into the DJ’s master FM broadcast, resulting in a mobile, synchronized sound system!

This Portable Dance Party roams the night, generating complete awesomeness, street by street and block by block, onto buses and subways, into public fountains and beyond. Inevitably interfacing with the public, together we create an infectious epidemic of fun. A Roaming Party Adventure that lasts all night long!

We've now thrown 35 insane DDPs across Canada and the USA, and the participants often numbered in the thousands. There's generally been a small police presence keeping an eye on things, but no drinking tickets, fights or any other problems one would expect from such large, wild crowds. That is because the prime objective at a DDP is celebrating life, enjoying music and having fun- not getting drunk and being an idiot.

If a Party is good enough, alcohol isn't required. The atmosphere alone will cause people to lose their inhibitions and freak out and drive the energy to ridiculous heights and create an incredible experience for everyone. Creating a Party like that is very hard to do, but it is our goal every time. This vision is fully outlined in our Party Manifesto.

More than a Party, the DDP has proven to be a very interesting social experiment; clearly demonstrating that thousands of people of all ages, cultures and social groups can come together to celebrate life and get crazy in our public spaces without causing any trouble. That is why the DDP is also known as “The Party Revolution”. It is a unique force that has the power to unify and inspire people in ways never before imagined.

WHERE DID IT COME FROM AND WHERE IS IT GOING?

The DDP was invented by Tom and Gary, two lifelong friends from Vancouver.

"It started with one boombox, and an idea, to transmit to hundreds more..."

In six short months, DDP attendance exploded from 20 people to 20,000 during Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Olympics. This meteoric growth can be beheld in our "Evolution of the Decentralized Dance Party” video.

Inspired by this massive response,we resolved to take the DDP on the road, and did so during our 2010 “Party Safari”, a self-funded adventure that saw us sharing the joy and madness of the DDP with thousands of thrilled Partygoers in seven cities across Canada from coast-to-coast.

And now, we're in the midst of our second Party Safari. This one is called the “Strictly Business Tour” and the plan is to wear only Business Attire while Partying across Canada and the USA.

Our goal is to further the frontiers of Partying, bring joy to millions of people and ensure that Partying is respected, legitimized, and forever enshrined as a spiritual movement of paramount importance.

We plan to take the DDP to Every Single Country On The Face Of The Earth and inspire as many people as possible to create their own DDPs and ensure that this becomes an enduring global movement that touches as many lives as possible.

Once that is complete, we will host a Simultaneous World Dance Party, transmitted to everyone in the world at the same time. It will be fun. You are invited.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

From day one, we’ve been seeking a reliable financing model for the DDP and are very excited to have discovered Kickstarter. The crowdfunding model is something we believe in and want to promote. Being completely decentralized, it's a perfect fit for the DDP.

We just used Kickstarter to raise $1000 for the DDP On Bikes in Vancouver, the First Phase of Party Safari 2011 and $10,000 for Phase Two (Regina, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and Victoria).

This 8-city USA tour features stops in Seattle, Portland, LA, Phoenix, Austin, Houston, New York and San Francisco. The first five stops have already been successfully funded and completed.

By popular demand, we are going to return to Portland for another DDP. The theme is going to be Extreme Physical Fitness and we are going to combine it with a crazy music video shoot for our good friend Con Bro Chill's new music video. DDP + CBC = Extreme Synergy. Here's our favorite CBC video:

But pulling this off will require us to fly in a bunch of crew members (who will have already departed) and we need to raise at least $2000 in order to git 'r done...

The funds will be used to fly/transport in our crew, cover the motorhome rental, purchase batteries, boomboxes, and everything else required to share the joy and madness of the DDP with the thousands expected to attend. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated- thanks for helping us on our quest and supporting the movement!

(PICTURES OF ALL DONOR REWARDS CAN BE SEEN HERE )

BREAKDOWN OF PARTY SAFARI COSTS:

-Extra Days Motorhome Rental (to transport crew and stereos)= ~$400 -Flights/food for crew members ~$600
-Anticipated lost/broken boomboxes $300
-700 "D" batteries = ~$700
TOTAL: $2,000

The total above doesn't include the production/shipping costs of the donor rewards, or the 9% fee deducted by the Kickstarter / credit card payment system.

But as long as we can make it to $2,000, we'll somehow figure it out, although it would be great to exceed the fundraising goal.

If we don't reach $2,000, DDP PORTLAND #2 WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Spread the word- it's in your hands :)

We are seeking tour sponsors as well- contact HERE :)

THANKS!
