One couple's journey from Antarctica to Holland: A doc about impossibility & the creative process, in live performance & in life.

69° SOUTH is an unparalleled live performance, conceived by New York's PHANTOM LIMB COMPANY and contemporary music icons KRONOS QUARTET, chronicling Sir Earnest Shackleton's 1914 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, the shipwreck that left 27 men stranded at the bottom of the earth.

This documentary will follow in step along the journey of Phantom Limb co-founders ERIK SANKO and JESSICA GRINDSTAFF as they lead a massive team of multidisciplinary artists (actors, dancers, puppeteers, stilt-walkers, and designers) through the final stages of a grueling 3 year rehearsal process before premiering their show at the BROOKLYN ACADEMY OF MUSIC'S HARVEY THEATER in November 2011.

The premiere will culminate not only countless hours of tireless work, extended onsite research at the South Pole funded by the National Science Foundation, and preliminary workshops around the globe, but also the realization of one couple's shared dream.

There is a beautiful parallel in the creation of art and the creation of a relationship. It's this parallel in the lives of two fascinating people that I want to explore, two people who exist and create under circumstances that are anything but ordinary. It's the story of one couple and their personal journey of creating art and life, together.

This movie is about creative dreams outpacing financial means, about building a single idea into an entire world, about trying to understand life, love, art, and purpose. This is the story of two authentic vestiges, they are the last holdouts.
