Backers..
It's been some time, and we want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to you with a little update.
RE: POST PRODUCTION!
Since early DEC, we have been cracking away at the "rough cuts" on our project. We've had a few passes at it and each time our story continues to shine while we tighten up things here and there and deliberate amongst each other with notes and critiques.
Our Editor, Ben Sellick, and Director, Andrew, have been working hard and have delivered us rough cuts with a fairly quick turn-a-round.
Our plan is to try to test a cut of our project to an unbiased / unrelated audience either last week of JAN or first week of FEB. This will be the first time we can get TRUE, fresh eyes on our project and we will see how the reactions work based against what we can do to fine-tune the project.
In FEB, we will be calling on more resources (and perhaps pulling a few more funds from yet-to-come sources) to get through digital color correction, sound mixing & foley (adding the effects that create the ambiance of the Calvin home), score our project and then, ultimately, dub the project in 5.1 stereo sound so that it plays amazingly well in theaters.
RE: FILM FESTIVAL PLANNING!
During this process, we also find time to start researching film festivals nationwide (and even a couple closer-by international festivals?) and we have begun concept meetings about our marketing & publicity strategies- including a refreshing of our website (with teaser trailer & media downloads, facebook & twitter links...)- all this coming live to you in FEB or by MARCH!
Yes- the movie is shot and wrapped, but a lot of work remains ahead of us. All work we're very excited about, however!
RE: REWARDS FOR YOU!
We also wanted to write you to let you know we have not forgotten about various rewards promised to you during our fund-raising period. Some rewards (like digital updates, BTS videos and the like) have been easy to distribute as the internet is free! Other rewards, like t-shirts, will take more time for us as right now we want any money we saved during production to be first applied to post-production.
We feel that this is the the most responsible, prioritized way to spend the money you generously donated us!
If anyone has concerns about these rewards, we'd love for you to please email us directly. You can contact Trenton and Ben at:
trentonwaterson@gmail.com / benjamin.d.long@gmail.com
We would gladly get back to you with our plan on when we can finally distribute to you the items owed.
Thanks for your buzz and encouragement on the internets! We love the LIKES on facebook (our buttons facebook page: search, "BUTTONS IN THE GROUND") and we love the ways the internet has shared our project onto other blogs & sites where people have mentioned us.
That's quite an update! Thanks for your time reading...
-the BUTTONS team!
