Hi everybody in Kickstarter-land! 

SCROLL DOWN FOR AN INSIDER LOOK INTO THE PROCESS OF THE CARRIERS!

My name is Kevin D. Bandt http://kevinbandtconcepts.blogspot.com/ and I write and draw the comic The Carriers. It is a fully painted comic about monsters, magic and all the things that I find awesome. I have been working on the comic every night after work. 

I went to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where I received a BFA in Illustration. My idea was that I would get into the video game industry then work on comics at night. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I have taken work outside of the art/illustration world but that hasn't stopped me from putting out comics. 

I have released 3 print issues of The Carriers (all of which are available as donation rewards). This is MY PRIDE AND JOY! I LOVE PUTTING TOGETHER AND PUBLISHING COMICS! (Sorry for the over-use/abuse of the caps lock key.) I am working on getting the 4th and 5th chapters done for what will (if this project gets funded)- The Collected Edition of The Carriers.

I thought that I would show some of my process that I use for creating the artwork for The Carriers

I start by doing the layout in Photoshop. This allows me to make adjustments to the layout without destroying the piece in its early stages. 

The next step is to take that image and print it to bristol board. I take the ghost image printed in blue ink and use india ink to ink the page. I like this part the most because it is at this point that I have created something tangible. An object rather than just a pretty picture on a computer screen.

I scan that then lay in colors. 

Then all I do is refine the rough color drawing into a finished painting. I will bounce between a few programs to get various effects that make my paintings look the way they do. I do a few adjustments to get the mood and color balance just right and that's all it takes.
