About this project
WHAT WE WANNA DO:
As you may or may not know, the better letters have already put out a 7" single in early 2010. We've been back in the studio, and are now putting the finishing touches on a full length album to be pressed this fall on white vinyl.
We are very excited about this project.
The album will also sell as an mp3 package, but if we are able to exceed our goal, we will be able to make our mp3 package available for free with purchase of the vinyl album.
We are not a wealthy pop band, so we are in need of a little cash to push this thing to the end. If you are not familiar with how a vinyl album is pressed allow me to give a you a brief summary:
-First you record your album (we are doing this ourselves so the cost is minimal)
-Second you get it mastered for vinyl and cut onto a lacquer which is essentially a metal record
-Third the record gets sent to get plated or to make another metal record except this time it's a negative
-Fourh: The liquid vinyl is pressed
This is not as cheap as cutting a CD but the results are more glorious.
SO, essentially we need money for all the above plus nice album jackets to put them in.
All of this will be done in the United States of America.
We are not interested in getting a cheaper product made overseas or even in Canada (sorry Canada).
MORE ABOUT THE MUSIC:
We have been trying to establish ourselves as the premier underground pop band in New York and possibly the country. We believe that music is nothing without support from the musical/arts community. This will be a self-produced and self-released (on our label 4:3 Records www.4-3records.com) and will include different musical friends, guests, etc. to present a dynamic that we have never been able to achieve before.
We believe that DIY (do it yourself) doesn't have to be as down and dirty as it sounds. While that is the case for us, we want to give you a nice polished product where you don't see the sweat and blood that went into it--it's just for you to enjoy. We like the sounds of Talking Heads, The Cars, Parliament, Devo, Tina Turner, David Bowie, and the like.
We crave BIGNESS. Not necessarily career-wise, but in performance and recording. Over-production is an easy mistake, but we are rather careful with what we think needs to be heard.
We are moving toward BIGNESS but we need your help getting there

You won't put this record on and have to do any hard thinking. We've done all the hard work for you.
