A book that teaches aspiring writers how to get from a basic idea to a fully rewritten screenplay.

Finish The Script! is a screenwriting book for anyone who wants to be a writer. It takes a step-by-step approach and focuses not only on theory but also on the actual writing process. It’s a full college course squeezed into book form that will take novice writers from concept through multiple drafts.

What separates Finish The Script! from other screenwriting books is that I'll be writing a screenplay right along with you. From finishing all the hard bits of the first draft to rewrite hell, I'll be by your side tearing apart my own work so you can learn. It will be as if we are in the classroom together!

Why $1,000?
A not so little secret about me is that I’m highly dyslexic. This means that hiring an editor is a must, and that’s the goal of this Kickstarter: to pay a professional to turn my misspellings and typos into something readable.

How Long Is It?
Right now it's sitting at 42,000 words. After another round of rewrites it should end up between 45K to 50K.

The second draft of the book is done, and I'm using my writing students this semester as beta testers. I'm seeing where they have trouble following along and what kinds of questions they have. I'll use their input to rewrite the book, and then I'll turn that draft in to my editor in late April. That will give us plenty of turnaround time to make our official July release date.
