Absolutely disgusting. No mask, just asked for a refund because I was holding out hope that it would one day arrive or just that international customers were waiting for a second run. I don't expect to see my money again.
Creator Suzanne Schiller on December 17
Another update please -- even if to say, "Sorry, we screwed up. We can't produce a second run."
Creator Antony Bernardo on December 11
STILL. NO. REFUND. Taylor Franklin is basically a scammer.
Creator Greg Norris on October 4, 2012
What is the status of fulfilling your stated obligations to your backers? The last update was in February. Thanks
Creator Melvyn Heard on September 8, 2012
Taylor, can we get update on the project? Or simply tell us you are done with this project and we have lost our money. The silence is the worst part.
Creator Roberto Mora-Galvis on July 25, 2012
about a year here and I still have not heard of refund or better yet about the arrival of a new functioning LUMI mask. This lack of professionalism makes me very disappointing to support any of the guys with great ideas out there. I am your average Joe and don't make that much money. I did not see this as an investment, but I did think I was contributing to help a motivated person with a great idea to make it out in the world... very disappointed!!!!
Creator Antony Bernardo on July 9, 2012
Yup, looks like we've been ripped off.
Creator Jared Dodge on June 26, 2012
Antony, I'm in the refund "process" with Taylor as well. It's taken over a month just for him to respond, asking for my PayPal account email. I responded immediately, and haven't received a response in a week. No money, no message. So disappointing.
Creator Antony Bernardo on June 21, 2012
Hi Taylor,
No, I've not recieved any communications from you at all - although I never check the spam folder... Anyway, could you send the $50 refund to contact@bassdress.com
Thanks
Creator Antony Bernardo on June 2, 2012
I still have no refund. Not pleased. $50 for nothing. Please refund me Franklin, I have messaged you many, many times.
Robbed.

I have yet to receive my refund. Who do I contact?
Creator Gwen on February 13, 2012
Update: received a refund from Taylor for my two masks and shipping ($110). I will continue following this project and hope for a quick and quality v2 of the Lumimask.
Also I had opened a complaint to Kickstarter (received standard answers - they told though they'd get in touch with Taylor). I will update them and ask them how they analyse the issue we had here, and what they plan to do to avoid such problems as we had here on:
- the realisation of a project (I can understand it's something that can happen),
- the communication, which was sporadic and empty in this project, and is on the other hand completely unforgivable and counterproductive in a crowdsourcing project.
Creator Nelson Pinero on February 9, 2012
I just got an email from Mr. Hide and he refunded my $50. I would suggest you keep pushing.
And I would ask Kickstarter to setup some kind of rules for fulfillment to protect those of us who believe in supporting companies that can deliver and grow the economy.
Just because I recieved my refund, it does not mean I will stop pushing for more protection for backers. I will post back on this or the main page to discuss where I am on this.
Creator Gwen on February 8, 2012
Nelson. How about this idea to collect mails? I'd participate.
Creator Nelson Pinero on February 6, 2012
STILL DON'T HAVE YOUR MASK? TAYLOR FRANKLIN HIDE WAS FUNDED ALOMST 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT HE NEEDED AND MANY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEIR MASKS.
SEARCH ON TWITTER BY MID WEEK FOR A CLEVER NAME FOR MR. HIDE SO THAT WE CAN SHOW HOW HE STOLE OUR MONEY.
KICKSTARTER, YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO CLEAR YOUR NAME HERE AS WELL.
Creator Nelson Pinero on January 29, 2012
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEIR MASKS:
I AM PISSED OFF SO...
Please check back here next Sunday February 5th to organize a group and either get our money back or find legal representation.
I will setup an email to collect names and connect with all of you.
Creator wendall lawrence on January 28, 2012
I created a yahoo Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lumiusers
I am willing to buy your mask off you for $20. Join the group or email me at lumiusers@yahoogroups.com. I will only be able to buy so many at first due to funds. I might be able to repair but I can't guarantee anything. I already foresee some modifications/improvements.
Creator Nelson Pinero on January 26, 2012
IF ANYONE HERE WANTS TO GET A GROUP TOGETHER I WILL PROVIDE AN EMAIL TOMORROW TO COLLECT NAMES SO THAT WE CAN EITHER GET OUR MONEY BACK OR FINALLY GET THESE MASKS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR INTEREST IN BANDING TOGETHER.
Creator Nelson Pinero on January 26, 2012
WHERE IS MY MASK???
I ALSO HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MASK.
IS KICKSTARTER A SCAM???!!!!!!
Creator Alan Arthur on January 15, 2012
How do I lodge a dispute on KickStarter? This is bs. I still havent received my 1st mask, and folks on here are talking about waiting for a 2nd? I was an original backer, and still nothing. I guess I might have to take it to credit card company and lodge a dispute? Or Consumer Affairs? Is there any kind of dispute process on KickStarter? Doesnt seem to be.
Creator Jeff Hackbarth on January 2, 2012
Your last update was posted 3 months ago. How is Version 2 coming along? Are there any new features that we can expect to see? Are you experiencing any "roadblocks" with the new version, manufacturing, shipping orders, etc? What are your plans for 2012? (Just a few questions; you don't have to answer all of them.) Or, has the entire project dried up?
Creator alexandru oprisan on December 17, 2011
Still haven't received mine.. no answer from the people behind the project! This is NOT ok..
Creator wendall lawrence on December 9, 2011
Going on month 3 now of use and I am starting to get worried. Second mask has not come in yet and the one I'm using is starting to fall apart. I guess I'm lucky mine is even working based on others backer's experiences. So, month 3 and the fabric is separating from the mask, bunching up in the eyepiece area and blocking the light from the LEDs. Left eye LED is almost non-existent and the right eye is dim. It still works as I guess my body has gotten used to it. I wake up as soon as the LEDS come on, telling me I have a half hour 'till the alarm goes off. For $50, I would be ok to have it only last 6 months ($100 a year for the results I've gotten is worth it. I pay more than that in co-pays for my sleep apnea equipment.) at $75, don't know. I sure hope this project continues as I would be its biggest advertiser.
Creator Gwen on December 4, 2011
All right. So let me get this clear : about a year ago, I paid more than 100 dollars for 2 lumimasks. What I have got in return ? NO MASKS at all and absolutely CRAPPY INFORMATION. There might be excuses for the quality of the product. There are NO excuses for the lack of communication and ignorance of customers' mails. I feel I've been abused. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
Creator Roberto Mora-Galvis on November 30, 2011
Now that Christmas is around the corner reminds me how lucky I was not to get more masks and look bad to my friends and family. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED and upset here too. I still think it is a great idea and I thought the design was well though of. Still it does not work as it is suppose to. In my case, it is the clock set, not the alarm, is turning the light on" furthermore, besides the light I also hear a beep if it worked correctly I wish I could choose between a beep, the light or both, but there is no choice.
What is upsetting the most is that Taylor did not back-up the quality of his product. as a supporter of a new product, first, I personally sent him an email about the issue and all I got in return was a link to the instructions about how to use it. As I reply to him, that was not the problem, I had my friends try setting it up and the mask did not work as intended. I follow it up with a couple of personal emails and even offered to return it at my own expense so he could fix it and to make sure others don't have a similar issue. It has been several months and I have not heard from him.
SUPPORTERS BE AWARE! This is my first experience with a site like Kickstarter hoping to participate and support brilliant inventions, but the lack of professionalism and the possibility of being scammed was something I did not foresaw.
Creator Ben Tegally on November 30, 2011
Very disappointed I'm afraid. The quality is ok if a little handmade, the comfort is good and fit is pretty decent but it's unforgivable that it doesn't do what it's supposed to. The light just comes straight on rather than gradually increasing in intensity. This was fundamental to my purchase.
Feedback has been also lacking but I hope you still deliver on your promise to provide version 2 for the price of shipping. The idea was sound so there is still hope to salvage the product and reputation, though I think a good idea would be to move settings to an iphone and android app and incorporate functionality that measures sleep patterns or plugs in to an existing app that does this.
Good luck.
Creator Peter Slikker on November 28, 2011
No mask for me either.
Creator Jeff Hackbarth on November 27, 2011
I know it's been awhile, but I'm finally just leaving my feedback. Just wondering if anyone has heard back from Taylor or the rest of the LUMI team? I'm interested to see what V2 looks like. (PayPal link was down for me, also.) I agree with a few others regarding the communications from Taylor & the team. I've backed more than 20 projects on here. Some provide very frequent updates, others less frequent; but they all respond fairly quickly to comments and questions from their backers... The last comment/update was back in Sept.; What have you been working on since then? How is V2 coming together? What improvements are you planning? etc. I'm curious to hear what other backers think, too.
Creator Jared Dodge on November 21, 2011
Still wish my LUMI worked...stopped working on day two of using it! Ridiculous. I wish Mr. Hide would respond and tell us what is going on...
Creator Greg Norris on November 16, 2011
Still waiting for the V2 promised free of charge in writing as received with the first version...
Creator Todd Lampone on November 9, 2011
Is there any update on when the Version 2 mask will be available?
Creator Dickie Lo on October 17, 2011
I still have NOT received my mask yet, would someone here tell me what I am supposed to do and get my refund ...
Creator Rob Arnold on September 23, 2011
Is there some kind of repair/ replacement plan in order? My mask worked fine, and i loved it, for about 3 weeks and now the LCD is unreadable and the alarm function won't work. I hope the Lumi 2 free of charge is still in effect!
Creator Carlos on September 19, 2011
Some kind of repair service would be helpful. Im not surprised that the model has some flaws but hey its new. All I ask for is some guidance from the team to help us with our masks, something, anything!
Creator wendall lawrence on September 15, 2011
Been using mine for a month now. STILL LOVE IT! Adhesive buttons fell off but there are only 4 so if one can't remember what they're for, a sleep mask is the least of your worries. You can still feel the pressure actuators under the fabric so the missing buttons do not impact performance. Still comfortable. Have noticed the left eye LEDs are not as bright as the right. Maybe not all are functioning? Co-workers have commented how bright and early I've been coming into work the last month. Really want a second one as a backup as I don't want to go back to not using one in the event it breaks.
Creator Greg Norris on September 13, 2011
Mine will unfortunately become an addition to a landfill. The clock backlight turns on but the numbers are unreadable making it non-functional. There was a note in the package the we will all be receiving LUMI v 2.0 free of charge. We'll see...
Creator Nelson Pinero on September 12, 2011
I have also not received my mask. Let me know what I need to do or how I can get my money back.
Creator Carlos on September 12, 2011
I mean my light just stopped working with the timer. Its really comfortable but I cant use the timer or light which is what I wanted. And i'm assuming we cant get the free one because its too late?
Creator Gwen on September 8, 2011
Still haven't received mine.
Creator Suzanne Schiller on September 2, 2011
Agree with all of the below. I am disappointed with both the quality (glued together, unfinished look, charging plug and cord is cheap and old style) and the function (light comes on at full bore, not gradually, electronic parts work inconsistently), as well as missing promised features ("supporter tag" -- not really important, but don't make promises you can't keep). Still, I thought it a good start, and still a good idea that Taylor should press on to improve; he's probably learned a lot about the difficulties of dealing with foreign manufacturers and I was hopeful that with lessons learned, he could do better in the next round.
But now, I don't think so. Because, with all of the foregoing in mind, as requested, I sent my comments to Taylor. As others below have mentioned, he hasn't so much as replied with a "thanks for your thoughts" message. There are only 400 of us, would it be so hard to hit the reply button and type a few words? No, it wouldn't, which means that Taylor doesn't know how to handle his customers or the fall-out and so has, in essence, gone into hiding. And if he can't handle the comments from the kickstarter community, I have little hope that he has the fortitude to press on with this project in any fashion.
Creator Jared Dodge on September 2, 2011
I, as James S. Is experiencing, have not been able to use the light and alarm on the mask since the day after getting it. I have made several attempts to contact Taylor and his team, and have been waiting about a month for a response. Seems they sent us broken products, and are failing to support them.
Creator James S. on September 1, 2011
Does anyone have a problem with a defective clock running slow? I wore it last night and set the time for 8AM. At 8:30AM, I needed my backup alarm to wake me up since the time on the mask still says some time around 6 to 7AM.
Creator Emma-Jane Mitchell on September 1, 2011
FAIL on the build quality. The mask looks unfinished, similar to a prototype and not ready for market.
Received it yesterday and I'm surprised by the poor build quality with the following major problems:
1. The two sides of the mask are poorly joined (are already found to be separating) and one end was not even joined and it was left wide open. Crazy DIY look to the edges of the mask. As a result of the gaps I can see the electronics inside!
2. The cloth slit around the LCD screen covers up the viewing of the screen. Makes it a guessing game to see the screen!
3. The lights turn on with a burst rather than the stated feature of them fading in. Hits the eyeballs with a bright sudden flash thats shocking!
This end mask design is not fit for purpose. It's poor build quality looks very rushed to market. I initially loved the idea, however this final "cheap quality" product makes me feel like I've received a dud. I don't won't want to discourage you but I'm very disappointed by the poor end design and build quality.
Creator Lawrence Meyer on August 27, 2011
Well i too received mine. Here are my thoughts:
Supporter tag: missing
Build: as everyone else - less finished and more prototypy
Instructions: What instructions? but I figured it out - horrid interface horrid electronics
Strap: as others - not very comfortable
Fit: ditto - did find a middle ground
Functionality: Well about 20 minutes before the alarm the light came on - as far as I can tell at the same intensity as it was 20 minutes later - that is full bore, headlights on the eyeballs, not a gentle wake up by any respects. And without instructions - was not able to turn it off.
So in general this is the first Kickstarter project that does not meet my expectations at all. Poor quality, poor design, poor implementation, poor communications. Like others I like hearing about the design and manufacturing issues, the updates, the travel and then in the end a functional product.
Creator Fabien Millerand on August 26, 2011
I received min last week in Toulouse. Yours should arrive soon...
Creator Gwen on August 19, 2011
Still waiting for the two masks I ordered. From Paris.
Creator PJ Gray on August 18, 2011
I love the mask but I agree with others below - the mask looks more like a prototype. The buttons fell off after three days and the seams are coming apart. Also the link no longer works. But I still love the mask.
Creator wendall lawrence on August 17, 2011
Been using mine for over a week now. Quality could use some work. Works great. Very comfortable even with my CPAP equipment. Link to free mask (cost of shipping) no longer works. Wife's mask has not arrived yet. Keep working out the bugs. Glad to back this project!!
Creator Todd Lampone on August 15, 2011
I received my LUMI masks today. I agree that the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. One of mine works great but the other is intermittent. Seems as though there is a loose connection because if I twist the mask even a little bit the back light cuts out. As you can imagine this makes it very uncomfortable to use. The second seems to work just fine and even seems to work better. It also looks better than the defective one. I must say I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable it feels on my face. I will post up more once I get more acquainted with the mask. I have to say, though, that if you can get the build quality up you definitely have a winner here. And with that I think that you could even charge more if it means that it will be a much more solid build with less rough edges.
