About this project

Drive A Faster Car (http://www.driveafastercar.com) has been a personal project and love of mine for the past eight years -- blogging about local, national and international music. I never expected to find myself where I am today. DaFC now has thousands of readers and has become a brand much larger than myself. It's a really exciting place to be.

Over the past few years, I have been working to expand the content to be able to serve as an Atlanta-based culture, entertainment and news blog along the lines of Gawker, Gothamist, and Gapers Block. I feel this is a huge gap in the Atlanta media market and believe Drive A Faster Car is equipped to fill that role. Atlanta is a progressive major city with a ton of great character, stories, people, events, and companies.

I am also looking to integrate coverage of Decatur and Athens into the mix, as the two other primarily progressive cities in Georgia. This is also in an effort to bridge and facilitate communication across these cities. They are a short drive away, quite geographically accessible. No excuses!

I am not physically capable of producing this much content however and the site isn't currently capable of hosting that much content or traffic. I need to hire writers, redesign the site and up my hosting in order to support the changes needed to properly grow the blog in this direction. I will also need to do a bit of print and web advertising to compliment my social media marketing once the redesign launches.

As aforementioned, I have started to integrate content beyond the scope of music. As of April 2009, I have started to bring on the writers I am looking to hire and have contracted a web designer. I have also committed a local graffiti artist of national recognition to do a proper logo. I switched to a local hosting company (A Small Orange) that can support the projected growth. I need to hire an accountant. I need to be able to pay for all of these services/resources pre-launch.

I have sold a few ads. I have spent a fair chunk from my own pocket. There is some really great stuff coming up with Drive A Faster Car and I would love to be able to launch it all by Fall 2009. Contact me directly and I am more than happy to share my story and direction with you.

I am giving Kickstarter a shot because I need some funds to help me kickstart the revamp! Starting small to help pay for the immediate expenses I need help covering. If this effort is successful, there will be future campaigns here to help raise the rest of capital needed pre-launch. Any and all help is appreciated. Your donations are only accepted if I reach my target of $1,000. Thank you so much!
