MEDIUM is an art magazine that lifts the stories of artists and highlights the spiritual nature of creating art and following your dreams. 

It features artists from across the spectrum of creative practice and experience, shares their stories  through video and multi media, and provides a platform for discussing the intensely personal side of creative expression.

MEDIUM is a digital work, published monthly to subscribers. The magazine is based in Denver Colorado and features many of Denver's most talented and audacious artists in hot pursuit of their dreams, potential and success. 

Featured artists are challenged to conceptualize a short film/story based on their experiences, medium of expression and dreams for the future, making each feature a work of creativity itself.  We then work with the artist to produce a 3-5 minute video unique to the artist which captures their journey and dream for an engaged audience. The result is a short, powerful presentation of the artist's work and vision, and serves as a unique marketing tool to help advance their career. Personal + progress.

On the reader's side, readers/viewers are engaged through the testimonies of these artists and inspired to find ways of telling their own stories through creating. They are challenged to embrace new forms of expression and make connections with a wider creative community. 

MEDIUM is engaging, provocative, and unconventional. It provides an inclusive context for intimacy in creative community and elicits a more personal approach to conversations about the meaning of art. 

MEDIUM is also a unique portal to the Denver indie arts scene, which is thriving with talent and drive in a variety of creative disciplines. From passionate musicians to visual artists on a mission, to designers devoted to making Denver a go-to city for fashion, the mile-high city is full to bursting with living dreams and stories to be told.

------------------ a short video + my inspiration

I want to share a video with you that was - and still is - the inspiration and ultimate goal behind this project. It's a clip from Anthony Bourdain's show, No Reservations last year when he visited Haiti. A short spot was given to some Haitian artists creating modest (YET SO FULL OF MEANING) pieces of art out of found objects from the year-old rubble, and selling them in the hut they work from. 

These artists have nothing materially but what they're creating from - and even that is evidence of ruin and heartbreak. These are the kinds of stories I want to tell in my journeys . . . the creative spirit that rises above dire circumstances to create something uniquely beautiful. A piece of their soul in the world.

    Crunch Time : A Deeply Personal Survival Memoir from a First Year Artist + Entrepreneur *a collection of 50 Life Lessons from the Field*

This little book is about part of my journey. It's a collection of short essays based on simple truths that have changed my life in the past year. Each is one page or less. 

Truthfully, It was an "up-at-dawn, pride swallowing siege that I will never fully tell you about" . . . but actually I did. In the book. Which proved to be the first time I've written that much in one weekend when I was in . . . crunch time. I'm sure it won't be the last. 

I wrote it because I wanted to grab hold of that time - the darkest and most precious time of the journey - when so much seems to be crashing down and your dreams seem like a fantasy and your pride is shattered and you can't see through the tears to type and . . . nobody knows it but you.

The time which must be fully felt, fully remembered in order to pass through it to bask in the sunshine of success. Success not just in accomplishing dreams, but in accomplishing getting through the darkest nights.
