About this project
Dear Friends, Family, and Fans,
After over five years of hard work, our feature film, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, will be making its world premier at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. That's the good news...The challenge is that a rough cut of the film was accepted, so there is still a lot that needs to be done to get the film ready for the festival. There are still things like, sound design, voice over, soundtrack recording, and color correction. Then there are also expenses associated with actually getting to Sundance and making the most of it, such as airfare, hotels, posters, a publicist, etc. Needless to say, we can get it all done, but we need your help!
Over the next month we will be raising a total of over $20,000 to finish the film, and deliver it to Sundance. This Kickstarter campaign represents a portion of that fundraising. But, as you probably know, we have to raise ALL the Kickstarter money, or we get nothing. So, if you like what you see, please donate what you can, and share the video with anyone you think may be interested. As independent filmmakers, we truly cannot do it without your help.
We truly appreciate your support, and we look forward to having you with us on this amazing journey.
Sincerely,
The Team
Film Synopsis: An Oversimplification of Her Beauty
You’ve just arrived home after a bad day…Scratch that…You’ve just arrived home after a bad month You’re broke, despite being too busy to shower most mornings. You’re lonely, even though you live in the biggest city in America. Generally speaking, you’re in a funk (and not just from lack of bathing). You do, however, have one cause for mild optimism. You seem to have captured the attention of an intriguing young lady. You’ve rushed home this particular evening to clean your apartment before she comes over. In your haste, you see that you have missed a call. There is a voicemail. She tells you that, she won’t be seeing you tonight… An Oversimplification of Her Beauty is a film that puts you in the shoes of an quixotic young man, as fantasies, emotions, and memories, race through his mind during this singular moment in time.
"With arresting insight, vulnerability, and a delightful sense of humor, Terence Nance’s explosively creative debut feature, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, documents the relationship between Nance and a lovely young woman as it teeters on the divide between platonic and romantic. Nance creates an exquisite tapestry of live action and various styles of animation to delve deeply into his own young male psyche as he sweats and stretches toward maturity. The result is an exciting and original film that announces the arrival of a bright new cinematic talent." - Sundance Film Festival
