About this project

We're looking to complete a follow-up CD to our Enter the Temple CD that was released in 2003. In addition, we've been booked at Libertopia for a multi-media concert performance in October. So, we figured, why not plow right into finishing this CD and make the Libertopia performance our CD release party? Sounds like a plan, eh?

In 2005, production began on our follow-up, Iconoclast, but then flooding destroyed our primary home studio for recording and rehearsal space, and it seemed like one thing after another conspired against us to get this thing finished. In the meantime, Kurt hunkered down and began creating performance background video segments for the live shows. But now musically, the wheels are finally turning again, with home studio sessions laying down whatever can be done in those environments, as well as visits to a few larger studios on a regular basis as our needs arise. At our current pace, we hope to meet a release date right around the first or second week of October.

The folks at Libertopia have been gracious enough to make sure that our staging, lighting, audio and video requirements will be met. They've also graciously agreed to offer you an Adult Membership (which gets you into Libertopia for the whole weekend) for each adult who pledges $100 or more to this project. Attendees of Libertopia also have access to Hollywood Xpo and vice-versa, so that's another great plus. As a band, our only real concern in this regard is taking care of our backline and getting our liberty-lovin' butts out there to put on the best damn show we can.

So, the money is going to be used for the studio time we have to pay for (mainly tracking drums and vocals, mixing, and mastering, even if those studios are willing to barter, discount and/or defer payment for a little while because they know us), replication of the first run of 1000 CDs of Iconoclast and for travel, lodging and other things that Libertopia cannot provide, such as our backline (drums, bass, & guitar rigs). The break down looks something like this:

This is probably a tooth-grinding, conservative estimate, but this is the best we can do to keep costs as low as possible and still bring this thing to fruition.

We'll also do a multi-track live recording and video shoot of the performance, plus other Libertopia documentary segments and highlights of the festival and guest speakers from our point of view, which will be released later on DVD and on YouTube or some other video site..

It's a bold plan with a conservative estimate, but we think that between Temple 8 friends and fans, as well as the kinds of people who would naturally gravitate toward events like Libertopia and Hollywood Xpo, it can be done.
