About this project
RYAN DOYLE's TBJv2 . . . The long awaited and much demanded “Tall Bike Joust” (TBJ) version 2 upgrade to allow you to challenge and compete against opponents using Bluetooth is now on the horizon and we need your help to make it happen! Gamers will be thrust into the rider’s seat as they joust in tournaments on tricked-out, mutated tall bikes within a complex 3D competitive fighting Multi-Player platform.
What Are We Looking To Do?
Ever since TBJ got released, fans have been asking us to make it peer to peer so they can joust against each other. This campaign is to make that happen for you guys!
What is TBJ?
In a time when the words 'occupy', 'bankers' and 'bonuses' are something we hear everyday, TBJ is a game that draws from the raw individuality and spirit of non-conformism found within the bike gangs of the world today.
TBJ goes beyond simple mobile device game play as Players use strategy along with gaming skills to participate in this uniquely fierce world of tall bike jousting. It enables you to craft a character’s competitive capabilities and exposes them to extreme terrains and conditions that will make each joust more challenging and enticingly difficult.
TBJ delivers the ultimate in 3D action gaming with the distinct thrill of first person, one to one combat jousting, spectacular body blows, and dismantling wipeouts. Players compete in quick jousts and longer tournament battles to increase their ability to defeat opponents in their quest to be the best.
As Players face off against BikeClub opponents, they quickly realize the complexities of the game are far beyond hand – eye coordination. To be the best, a challenger must customize a TBJ character whose survival requires BikeClub essentials to aid in victory. Game play strategy comes in the form of managing a HEART meter and attribute points such as POWER, SPEED and GUARD to win jousts and tournament rounds and stay alive. Winning a joust or a tournament round grants access to essential gear like lance attachments, body armor, padding and bike parts that fortify both Player and bike. Each winning match allows Players to adjust character attributes, increase sweat points, source equipment and improve ranking.
TBJ features QUICK JOUSTS that let Players participate in continuous jousting rounds to gain attribute points and stuff for their arsenal and SIX TOURNAMENTS depicted in six different post-apocalyptic cityscapes with customized challenges and obstacles. A New York City terrain of glass and potholes; Minneapolis with snow and ice; Reno with punishing sand and sun; New Orleans delivers flooded wetlands; a Hong Kong cityscape of blinding neon; and Amsterdam the bicycle capital of the world. Each tournament has 3 rounds and true to all tall bike jousting challenges, Players can choose their opponents but the number of options decreases to only one in the final round. Beat the tournament defender to become the Local or World Champion and unlock to other tournaments. The supreme confrontation is to joust Doyle - the Official Tall Bike Jousting Champion of the World, to secure the top spot and achieve eternal fame.

DVD of the cult film B.I.K.E. which inspired the iPhone app TALL BIKE JOUST. Two filmmakers infiltrate an underground bicycle club. The film is a depiction of the Brooklyn chapter of the Black Label Bike Club (BLBC), a fringe network of mutant bike builders who joust on tall bikes. The club justifies their medieval inspired competitions with environmentalist and anti-consumerist rhetoric and politically radical ideals. Taking place in the context of the 2004 Republican National Convention, B.I.K.E. is a riveting look into the ways in which identity is important for a collective of fiercely independent people.

Ryan C. Doyle -- Creative Director
Doyle attended Perpich Center for the Arts and Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and has collaborated with Robochrist and Brooklyn's Madagascar Institute. His aim is to engage his audience and push the limits of personal "safety." If art’s true nature is to change the emotions of the viewer, he offers an exciting relationship for the audience to be terrified, exhausted and hopefully empowered for anyone who courageously volunteers to “ride” his works. His work has been shown around North America, Australia and Europe Ride Yer Bike. Mediums include ultra-light propellers, jet engines, electronics, hydraulics, dudes, markers, fake breasts, babies, blood, the occasional chicken and destroyed cars.
Currently based in Detroit, Ryan C. Doyle has been featured on Junk Yard Wars, Monster Nation, FUSE’s Rock and Roll Acid Test and in B.I.K.E., the documentary.
