About this project
We are raising money to complete post production for this short film based on Jenifer Hixson's Moth story, later told on This American Life.
After an adventurous location shoot in Asbury Park, NJ, filming at the beach home of Jenifer Hixson, we want to continue to do justice to this remarkable story. The footage looks beautiful, thanks to cinematographer Sanne Kurz (and her Canon 5D) and the performances from our leads, Kristin Taylor and Loren Lockwood are raw and heartfelt in this slice of life drama. With your contribution, we will have enough funds to produce a high quality finished product that will garner buzz and acclaim at festivals.
Because we are resourceful indie filmmakers, the $4000 we raise will be used to edit (visual & sound), score the film, get a sound mix, color grade and obtain music rights and create the highest production value possible.
If you like, we can make your payment tax deductible as we have a non-profit set up through Fractured Atlas (only for pledges of $100 or more - and please send an email about it if interested).
When ;) we exceed our goal, funds will be spent on marketing, promotion, and festival screeners.

Tawnya Foskett founded The Auteur Tribe in 2010. Tawnya began her career in the 90’s studying and working as an actor and dancer. She worked primarily in film and theatre, traveling from LA to New York, and then to Florida. In Florida she made the decision to study filmmaking, and a move to Humboldt, in Northern California, soon followed. Graduate studies in film brought her further off the beaten path, this time to Melbourne, Australia. Upon graduation, and a quickly expiring visa, she returned to New York. She works primarily as a director now, in film and also theatre, and continues to collaborate with other artists from around the world.
She is now in Post on her new short film: "Girls Who Smoke" adapted from a short story told at The Moth.
