Over the past decade, artistic and cultural energies in Bangor, Maine and the greater Penobscot River Valley have blossomed. This creative boom centers around museums, marketplaces, organizations, art houses and shop fronts. In September 2011, eight locals said, "Hey, let's funnel this into a publication."

And Tarratine was born.

Conceived of as a printed quarterly, Tarratine seeks to host ongoing, open discussions between those who engage, expose, and connect this community to the creative culture at large. Barely five months old, we are already swimming in submissions. Our inaugural issue, themed Manifest/o, launches on the 2012 Spring Equinox.

But...

we need your help to make the publication free-of-charge and ad-free. Your funding enables (at least) a 500-copy distribution for the region, a release party for the Manifest/o issue, and a platform for spring and summer events as well as future issues. A downloadable PDF will be available for all the enjoy, near or far. And of course, you'll be rewarded with our lovingly-constructed incentive gifts.

By funding Tarratine, you not only fund the collective dreams of eight individuals, but you also amplify the voice of eastern-central Maine. It has not often been heard, but it has something to say.
