About this project
THE REQUEST:
In August, I finished recording, mixing and mastering my newest piece of music 'Spokes'. This album, my first official release as a solo performer, is a conceptual tone-cycle, incorporating text from "Les Fleurs Du Mal" (Charles Baudelaire, 1857). This piece means a lot to me as it is the product of 8 months of work and development, however I lack the resources to be able to print the full amount of copies.
Please help me realize my goal of raising at least $800 for printing! (*note this is only about half of the total cost, so anything helps!)
THE ALBUM:
'Spokes' is about dialogue and communication in four forms; man/nature, man/machines, nature/machines & tones/tones. Throughout the piece, sine and square sound waves reverberate against each other, vocal passages are dictated on damaged tape, and both the beauty and the clamor of the world outside our window is filtered through the lens of composition and structure, as Baudelaire's words also reflect that desire of the artist to register descriptions of the senses into their verse. The album blends miniature guitar compositions with building tone textures, so its right there in between my roles in The Slowest Runner and Sontag Shogun.
'Spokes' features readings by Aki Onda, Liam Singer, Ella Joyce Buckley and Catherine Métayer, and a burly meow by Furball (1991-2011). Mastered gorgeously by Greg Davis.

THE CONTEXT:
With the release of 'Spokes', I am also launching a small-run audio-centric publishing house with my wife, Catherine. Palaver Press/Music will focus on releasing unique and innovative product pieces of art that blend and blur the distinctions between mediums. Audio-books, audio-recipe guides, photo-films, etc. I am fundraising for the release of 'Spokes', in part, so that this album can begin to generate the foundation capital which Palaver Press will operate on. So this release is VERY important to us! Any little bit helps! (And, if you're not into supporting the project, that's okay too, just think of it as pre-ordering a cd!)
