$10,000 seems like a lot, because it is, and we're so grateful to be entering this partnership with our fans to release "Lost River". We can still accept more funding until our deadline and as you can see here, $10,000 covers the necessities. Anything beyond $10k will go to letting the world know about the little band that could. No, we aren’t writing a children’s book, just hoping to hire a publicist. And, of course, any backer of $10 or more receives a copy of the album before it hits the streets.

A note from Syd, Lisa and Patrick...
Despite our best artistic instincts, when it comes to the recording process there are always distractions. Besides the obvious pressures of money and time, there is also the stress of achieving your vision. In the end the music is recorded and released, but the unanswerable question remains: at what creative cost?
This fall, we decided to spurn the real world and disappear into a cabin in upstate New York with our music machines and recording gear - no hourly rates, no deadlines and no preconceptions.
The result, an album we are calling “Lost River,” is a perfect representation of creation in its rawest form. Words were grabbed from the air as fast as the changes were decided and everything was recorded as it was written. In addition to the inherent energy of this in-the-moment recording style, we feel there is as much soul in these simple songs as anything we have released before.
But now we are back in the real world, concerned that this experience could end up hidden away: a collective journal entry. For us the journey isn’t complete; this music needs to be shared to come alive. We want you to have access to these songs.
We are looking to raise money to help share the cost of mixing, mastering, and physically producing “Lost River.” These funds will also help subsidize the cost of traveling across this big old country for 6 weeks in the Spring of 2011, so we can play these songs for you and help get the word out.
We are confident we can book the tour and handle the details, we just need the funds. We believe this endeavor will cost around $10,000.
We've all funded bands on credit cards, booked tours and made records that have broken even or made a profit in the end, but we've never hit the road with that cushion of confidence knowing that our expenses are paid for and we haven’t endangered our credit reports or personal relationships. If you can help us reach our goal, we can focus on making the music the best it can be.
