About the Documentary

A critical look at how the authorities handled the nuclear crisis and Tsunami relief by an American who volunteered in the clean-up.
Surviving Japan is a documentary by volunteer and director Chris Noland. It is in short, a documentary of the devastating events in Japan and the after-math that followed.

The documentary shows the humanitarian and aid crisis that faced the people  in the wake of both natural and nuclear disaster. It features true stories from those affected by the disaster, the government and even TEPCO. It highlights the struggle in dealing with: The Tsunami clean-up,  Government response to the disaster, radiation plus the future of nuclear power after the accident.

2011年に日本で起きた津波について、その救援活動、原子力発電所における核危機についての現地・現場の声。

核危機および津波救援への関係官庁の対...応に対する、被害の後処理に参加した一人のアメリカ人ボランティアの批判的な視線。

つまりこれは、日本で起きた衝撃的な大災害およびその余波についてのドキュメンタリーである。

このドキュメンタリーによって明らかにされるのは、自然災害である津波、そして核災害に際して人々がさらされた人道および救援の危機である。

被災者、政府関係者、さらには東京電力株式会社(TEPCO)関係者の生の声を聞くことができる。

津波による被害の後処理、政府の災害への対応の欠如、そして原子力発電所事故後の放射線による影響および原子力の将来に関する苦闘を浮き彫りにする。

放射能の影響を受けた福島県の人々の支援を行い、再建の費用捻出ができない人々のための資材購入の手助けができるよう、この映画を完成、そして公開するための資金援助をお願いしたく存じます。当映画はバンクーバーのサイモンフレーザー大学でも非常に高評価を得た作品であり、CBCカナダニュースチャンネルでも特集されました。

当DVDのご予約をして頂くことで、このプロジェクトに参加することができます。また、個人や企業、団体の方にご協力して頂く代わりに、映画のクレジットにてお名前を掲載させて頂くオプションもございます。

当映画を製作する意義とは、何が起こったのか人々により深く知らせることであると同時に、この映画による収入が当プロジェクトの大きな助けとなることです。この映画を世界中で公開するためには、映画会社に持ち込む必要があります。そのために、私達は皆様からのご協力を必要としております。

If we do not raise more money, the movie will not be able to marketed properly to the general public so that it can be released. So these are the final costs involved to make this film a reality.

The Director Chris Noland is an award-winning videographer, Originally from America, that moved to Japan a year before the earthquake.  Chris Noland was a volunteer in the Tsunami Clean-up, food and aid delivery when the  disaster happened. He was inspired to make a film about the events when it was clear people were not getting enough help or answers. I shot over 100 hours of film along with 100s of photos over the course of 6 months in the disaster Zones in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima prefectures by myself. Making it past the goal will allow me to release all the footage as DVD extras or Online. It is currently in the Post-Production phase and with your help will make it off to Film Festivals and distribution!
