It's all on the Internet now.
Greetings from Austin! Because we like challenges, we're putting up Twine's first power consumption test, live with no safety net! The little guy is going to work all weekend on an accelerated workload (necessary when you measure battery life in months!), and you'll see the results along with us. (No pressure, right?) Check it out at our blog:

When you shipping the units to Europe. I was one of the original backers but no unit received yet?
Creator Supermechanical on July 6, 2012
Scratch that - it's been a long workday and our belongings finally came from Boston waiting to be unpacked, so we'll post the update later this weekend. -John

Sure thing - we'll have one up tomorrow.
Creator Jeroen S on July 5, 2012
How about an update? Would be much appreciated...
Creator James Young on July 2, 2012
Estimated shipping date was revised in Update #20, peoples. Twine was estimated to ship July/August then.
Creator ZippyFund Inc. on July 2, 2012
Over 90 days past estimated delivery.... How much longer do we have to wait!!!
Creator Sean O'Connell on June 29, 2012
Great stuff but I am looking forward to getting my twine.
Creator Jonas Persson on June 27, 2012
Sounds great...but I have not recived my Twine. When can I expect it to arrive?
Creator Supermechanical on June 20, 2012
We stopped the test once we easily beat all our goals - accuracy in a accelerated test like this diminishes as it goes on. David did his job well, and we're really happy with 6+ months! It was fun watching along with y'all - more in the next update.
Creator Scott Walker on June 20, 2012
195 days! That is great! Six months for a device with multiple sensors continuously monitored and constant wifi communication; very nice. Not having to babysit the thing to feed it batteries opens up even more opportunities for remote monitoring possibilities.......
Creator Scott Walker on June 19, 2012
Closing in on 178 days; looks like six months (more or less, lol) runtime is a definite possibility. That's nice! Put some rechargeables in there, and only having to worry about swapping batteries twice a year, makes the Twine a real "set it and forget it", low maintenance device!
Creator Eugene Zheng Yong Sheng on June 18, 2012
At 124 days now with lots of battery juice to go
Creator Scott Walker on June 18, 2012
Good, I evidently caught it busy. At 105 days now. That six months (182 days) is within reach!
Creator Angustimus on June 17, 2012
No, it's still going but the website is a bit unresponsive at times. Currently at 77 days 2 hours.
Go you little twine!
Creator Scott Walker on June 17, 2012
Just checked, says Möbius hasn't been heard from. That mean it ran out? What was the final result? I could hope for 6 month's runtime. Eneloops is a good idea; I'll need to pick up some AAA's soon.
Creator Supermechanical on June 16, 2012
Magnus, just tempering expectations.
Andre, we haven't tested Eneloops, but if they work with a digital camera, they're probably good.
John, we'll let you know in an update when you can play with the full site.
Scott, of course you can name your Twines. How else will you tell them apart? :)
Martin, it looks better now, but yes, it'll keep getting better for small screens.
Anton, click on the 'ºF'.
Creator Moskus on June 16, 2012
The "fine print" is hillarious! Is it on purpose?
"The final Twine battery life will probably be longer or shorter than the number we get from this test."
Yes, it certainly will be. :-D
Is it just to cover all bases?
Creator Andre Haase on June 16, 2012
Great test. This will of course only be an estimate, this doesn't accurately include the self-discharge of the batteries or the bigger stress on them because of the higher average current so it can go either way.
Will the Twine be able to run on rechargeables? I use Eneloops at home for all my appliances and they hold their voltage very well...
Creator John OConnor on June 15, 2012
Is there a site I can play around with programming some logic for the tasks before the device arrives. This would be helpful in getting a head start on things. I have asked this question once before and got no response. Please respond.
Creator Scott Walker on June 15, 2012
So when is the betting getting started up? I'm gonna toss a wild guess out for 6 months.
Also, is the named Twine a hint that we'll get to name our Twines?
Creator Martin Cowley on June 15, 2012
Hi - I realize this is probably just an ad hoc site for the battery testing, but I noticed it doesn't work at all well on my iPhone. Is the main Twine web site designed to work on iPhone/iPad? I hope so, since these devices are what I use for web browsing the majority of the time.
Creator Anton Outkine on June 15, 2012
Guys, some of your backers live according to the Celsius scale. Twine is a worldwide project (sorry if I have to break it to you). Would you be so kind to update the temperature widget?
Creator Jamie Rytlewski on June 15, 2012
Thanks for the update! So excited to get mine!
