About this project
On March 1, 2011 Summer People independently released the album Teamwork (via Low Light), the follow up to their first full-length Good Problems. Following the release of Teamwork and a recent split entitled Do It, they have been touring and anticipating much time on the road throughout the remainder of 2011 and beyond. Pressing Teamwork on vinyl will better allow the band to continue touring and releasing new records. For this Kickstarter venture, Summer People will be offering exclusive colored vinyl and test pressings of the Teamwork LP, never again released 7-inches, and special t-shirts designed by NY state artist/friend Mike Murray (http://www.taomsm.com).
Where will additional project funding go beyond pressing Teamwork?
Summer People is currently on tour with close friends from Cleveland, HotChaCha. Both bands are sharing a van and playing 45 shows throughout the eastern and midwestern U.S. at DIY spaces, houses, venues, colleges, and festivals.
In preparation for the tour, Summer People and HotChaCha collaborated make sure the 7,000+ mile tour would be fueled entirely by recycled Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO). Their goal is to reduce traveling costs and tour more sustainably by greatly reducing their dependence on fossil fuels while touring.
We hope to relay a message to friends and fans that using recycled fuel is a significant and positive way to affect the environmental, economic, and political status quo of our culture. We need your help raising money for the conversion of our van into a WVO-powered beast!
Once our Kickstarter "goal" is met at $4,000, our actual goal (to cover costs for both the vinyl and conversion) continues in order to reach $6,500. Any additional money beyond this goal will go directly in to pressing more albums, allowing SP's music to reach more listeners. We sincerely thank you for your continued support!
See you at the upcoming shows this fall.
With love... SummerPPL

Summer People was formed in 2008 by a group of like-minded friends from upstate New York who sought to perform unique music while simultaneously strengthening their camaraderie. Their debut album, Good Problems was released in January 2010 with a lot of acclaim. Good Problems flaunts “chunks of raw poeticism, unfettered conviction, and a resolute potency
that’s hard to mask or imitate” (Absolutepunk.net). Inspired by the bands fervent work ethic, Summer People decided to self-release their sophomore effort Teamwork under the name Low Light. Teamwork is a genuine, totally independent reflection of their idiosyncratic approach. Still in love with being on the road, Summer People will continue to tour relentlessly in support of their latest full-length record and upcoming split EP with HotChaCha (Exit Stencil Recordings) entitled Do It.
