I am very interested in seeing what you guys have in store for the new/revised Portal.
Creator KazuyaDarklight on May 9, 2012
Look forward to setting you guys on the new page.
Creator Rachel Kirkendall on May 9, 2012
So sad that I found this project so late in its life...fond, fond memories of the original game.
Waiting with baited breath to see Portal 1986 Reborn be...well, reborn.
Creator Subliminal Games on May 6, 2012
As mentioned in the recent backer-only update, we are pushing out the announcement of our possible solution to later in the week.
Creator Blazing Hero of the Obsidian Order on May 5, 2012
Looks like an interesting project. I hope you guys can drum up some more buzz.
Creator Subliminal Games on May 5, 2012
Hi Adam,
Its good to see fans of the original are able to find us here. As to your thoughts, you may recall Mentor's aphorism: "Matter is the pattern mind makes."
Creator Adam Diran on May 5, 2012
I remember Portal from back in the day, it really was a unique and memorable experience. I'd love to see the fully funded project but if that doesn't work I'd still back a more scaled down version of the project.
Creator Devon Rampe on May 4, 2012
Cool, I hope what you present this weekend will be pretty awesome, and garner a lot of attention and bring in a ton of people. :) I'm looking forward to receive my boxed version of the game. :)
Creator Kerry Cupit on May 4, 2012
Looks like awesome high-quality sci-fi, I hope it gets funded!
Creator Markus Brenner on May 3, 2012
I just learned about the project. I'm so excited; in fact, over the last 15 years I kept thinking how Portal so deserves to be brought back. Most recently when the TRON ARG was reminding how powerful storytelling on modern media can be. Best of luck!
Creator Subliminal Games on May 3, 2012
Hi Brynjolfur,
We hear you loud and clear and we'll be presenting a possible solution to our backers this weekend.
Creator Brynjolfur Erlingsson on May 3, 2012
Hi I'd love this to happen but in it's current state it wont. There is to much missing from the presentation and the goal is to high. I wish there would be more showing how awesome this could be.
Creator Subliminal Games on May 2, 2012
Hi Michael,
We're aware of these issues and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible. The problem may be rooted in perception more than anything else and, if so, that is something we can work to correct.
Creator Michael Johnsen on May 2, 2012
You guys need a better video to generate backing, look at the one the shadowrun folks did - or wasteland 2. I'm pulling for you guys but you need to sell people on the game - paint them a picture of how it'll be the explore the world of portal, don't make the mistake of thinking people have imagination enough to get there themselves. Get the rest of the team on camera too there are rumblings that this is a hoax on several abandonware boards - show them you are for real and most of all explain where the money is going.
This game needs to generate more publicity fast and you need a better vid to sell it, and generate the necessary cash to make this happen.
Creator Subliminal Games on May 2, 2012
Hi Dane. We're working on a solution to that very issue. More soon.
Creator Dane Barrett on May 2, 2012
This is a fairly ambitious goal. Are you sure you've given yourselves enough time? I'd love to see this project happen, but damn...
Creator Julien on May 2, 2012
Yup
Hope you will make it guys but the road to the (very high) goal sounds rocky, to say the least
You need and deserve more publicity
Creator Jonathan on May 2, 2012
Woot! Just 890,000$ to go!
A daily average of 35,600$....
Creator John Morris on May 1, 2012
Here's another request for a Linux port. Take the example from Double Fine Adventure - they announced Linux support very early, and I believe that that was a factor in their success. Linux users are amongst the most supportive!
Creator Ben - Xenon Special Forces on May 1, 2012
Stumbling on this by accident and never having played the original, I was about to pass by but after a short glimpse of the project page, you had me hooked. To be honest after reading the 2nd update (in particular the atmosphere paragraph) I was about jumping on Amazon and searching if there is a book with that story. Ok, then I held back and rather decided to pledge ;)
Recently a few of the more ambitious and interesting Kickstarters failed, so I pledged as much as possible and mobilized my little social circle. 'We' cannot let this fail !
Creator David Hosea on May 1, 2012
This games sounds very interesting even though I have never played the original. I believe more games like this need to be made. Instant pledge for me.
Creator Toni on May 1, 2012
This needs more attention! :)
Creator Subliminal Games on May 1, 2012
Thanks, Katrina. As Mentor, a important character in the drama of "P86R", would mysteriously say: "The eye is the door through which the material universe enters. How then does it leave?". Welcome aboard!
Creator Katrina Krulla on May 1, 2012
Project looks good! Will be keeping my eye on this one.
Creator Evgueni Baldin on May 1, 2012
If you are still looking for the game engine. Please check Unigine: http://unigine.com/products/unigine/
Creator Evgueni Baldin on May 1, 2012
@Subliminal Games GNU/Linux community could be generous. The problem is that Linux port for us is the essential feature.
Creator Subliminal Games on April 30, 2012
Evgueni,
We have modified the FAQ to state that if demand for a Linux port is strong enough, we will support it. This is true for any platform. We would love to see more games for Linux but ultimately it comes down to supply & demand.
Creator Evgueni Baldin on April 30, 2012
@Subliminal Games If you planed GNU/Linux port from the beginning please add some information about it in FAQ section. Then I could advertise you on our local Linux news sites
Creator Stian H. G. on April 30, 2012
I just found via another thread in kickstarter. I'm love sci-fi and game sound incredible.
Count me in.
Creator Jean-Luc on April 30, 2012
Good luck on this project! I spent many, many nights playing the original on the Amiga. That would be amazing to experience the story again on today's technology.
Creator Subliminal Games on April 30, 2012
We have a great love for Linux and planned from the very beginning to have at least one in-game Easter Egg involving a certain avian in his native habitat. If the Linux community supports it, we will pursue it.
Creator Evgueni Baldin on April 30, 2012
What about Linux port?
Creator Subliminal Games on April 30, 2012
Hi Christoph. We did get an article on Kotaku (see Update #1) and we've reached out to all of those you mention and then some. That said, we've still got some plans underway but only time will tell if any of them will pan out.
Creator Tilion on April 30, 2012
You aren´´t got much media coverage, which is a shame, as there seems to be a lot of love in this project. Why don´´t you try to go on reddit and reach out to kotaku, rps, giantbomb etc.?
Creator Subliminal Games on April 30, 2012
Thanks, Anton. We're doing our best to get the word out!
Creator Anton_stgo on April 30, 2012
I see this project a hard one to be founded, very few games reached that goal. Anyway, I hope this one gets founded, I really love good science fiction.
Creator Subliminal Games on April 29, 2012
Excellent suggestion, Pawel! When we launched this campaign, there was no distinction between the two categories. While there are many things you can't change once launched, this was one that we could. We are now listed under the Video Games category. Thanks, Pawel.
Creator Paweł K. on April 29, 2012
Maybe moving project from Games to Games\Video Games (if possible now) would help a little bit?
Creator Mathieu Perreault-Dorion on April 29, 2012
Thanks for the answer. Too bad, I was really looking forward to reading some intelligent science-fiction. Back to Asimov then.
Creator Subliminal Games on April 29, 2012
Hi Mathieu! While a number of things have changed, the end result is more or less the same so yes, reading the book *will* spoil a great deal of what occurs in the game.
Creator Mathieu Perreault-Dorion on April 29, 2012
Never heard of the game nor the book, but I'm super intrigued. You have a new backer!
Stupid question: if I read the novel, will it spoil the game?
Creator Subliminal Games on April 28, 2012
Welcome aboard, Pawel. We're glad you found us -- even if it was by coincidence!
Creator Paweł K. on April 28, 2012
I came across this project through a huge coincidence. If somebody does not know what exactly to look to find is just as likely to hit on this project as I did. Search capabilities of Kickstarter page does not help.
Creator pival on April 28, 2012
Especially putting in the front your team more than the actual "oh it's gonna be awesome" pitch, IMO
Creator pival on April 28, 2012
nice, now you need more promotion!
Creator Gatt - Member of the Grey Gamers Guild on April 27, 2012
Now that was an interestingly creative pitch video, I like how you intertwined the pitch with the game! While I missed Portal on the C64 somehow, the creativity in the pitch gives me faith in the game.
(Hint: Save the video and frame-by-frame it at certain points)
Creator Subliminal Games on April 27, 2012
Thanks, Jonathan. We're working on a number of things behind the scenes and will have them up in the near future.
Creator Jonathan on April 27, 2012
I think you guys should work on a more exciting and intriguing introduction movie... (some epic space music, maybe a line or two of narrative lines by the main character).
Plus, like you said in the update, you definitely need to show some of the goodies to entice peoples' appetite.
Creator Jonathan on April 27, 2012
This sounds truly amazing.
Best of luck to the team (and us!) to fulfill this to a reality!
Creator Ilias "retrospect" on April 26, 2012
Just found and bought the original game through ebay : )
