Small, inspired dance team seeks means to travel to Las Vegas to compete in a national dance competition this July 13 - 16th.
In February, Stylz, a small dance team from Fort Collins Colorado, qualified for national competition in Las Vegas (July 2012). Truly the classic David and Goliath story, the eight member team rose above well funded companies with up to 100 competitors a team. Though they could not afford professional choreographers nor custom made costumes, their hearts and spirits shone through to the judges routine after routine.
The friendship this team has developed is rare and it is just this that impressed the judges. It was witnessed through every breath, every step, and every movement they made, backed by their joy for and dedication to dance and each other, borne from their effort in the studio. This was rewarded by the invitation to come to nationals where they will take Master classes from top choreographers in the dance industry such as Mia Michaels, Tabitha and Napoleon, Sonia, Dave Scott, Wade Robson, Travis Wall and many more. They will also be able to meet, observe, and learn from the best dancers from all over the nation establishing new friendships and contacts.
Again, David faces Goliath, as this small team works to raise funds to partake in the incredible honor and opportunity that competing at nationals will bring. With only eight members, our team lacks the massive money base the monster teams they face take for granted. The team is working diligently to raise money locally through gifts from family, friends, and businesses, but we are looking to raise the last necessary part through Kickstarter to cover our travel, hotel and food expenses.
Our efforts have paid for the competition for the dancers themselves, but we are tapped out! It is only through your generous donations that we can make their dream a reality and support their continued growth in this beautiful art.
