About this project
"The Past Presents The Future" is our new big project undertaken to bring our music to as many people as possible. Almost every aspect of this project is designed to give our amazing community of fans many of the things they have been asking us for (a live shows of past albums, live DVD's, vinyl!). Then, we hope to turn all that love and goodwill into something that powers our new projects and gets them out to as many new fans as possible. The past presents the future.
The main things we have committed to are:
1 - A deluxe, signed/personalized collectors edition of Feathersongs For Factory Girls on vinyl (no, really, we're talking NIIIIICE - oh, and yes, part two is still coming out on CD). All backers of this project and the original Feathersongs project will have their names on the album artwork.
2 - Performing a very special show in 2011 - our Wiser album in its entirety with a string section. This will be the only time we do this (and we'll ONLY be able to do it if this project is funded - it's going to be a LOT of work). We will make sure to announce the show well in advance so that travel/arrangements can be made easily by all who want to attend the event.
Kickstarter is a great tool for helping us get the funds we need to pull this off, but we also think it's a great tool for YOU to interact and communicate and SAY what YOU would like. We can add backer rewards at any time over the course of the project so, please, let us know what we forgot.
Remember, in addition to the various things included in the backer rewards, we will commit to playing the Wiser album (on its 10th anniversary - with a string section) if this project is funded. Yeah!
Also (we love this part), everyone who backs the project will be entered to win one of five vinyl test pressings (our friends, the amazing artists/technicians at FURNACE will be pressing the vinyl so you know it's going to be slick).
Finally, EVERY person will receive a download of a new, previously unreleased track on the same day they back the project (not a remix or a live version, a brand new track!).

Ryan Coseboom's fingerprints have landed on recordings and remixes by Radiohead, DJ Shadow, Low and countless others. Rebecca Coseboom's voice has graced recordings by UNKLE and has been celebrated by everyone from CMJ to MSNBC. Together, they have been called "one of the greatest live acts on earth" (KEXP) and "a mini super-group" (FutureSounds).
2010 was an amazing year for Stripmall Architecture. Their second album, Feathersongs for Factory Girls, was released to acclaim that rippled throughout the blogosphere and beyond. Their unique blend of guitars and electronics saw them draw comparisons with everyone from M83 to Radiohead. While such words should be taken with a grain of salt, it's clear that Stripmall Architecture is aiming extremely high. The widescreen production pairs perfectly with Rebecca's heart-wrenchingly emotional vocal performances to jump through the speakers and grab you within the first few seconds of listening.
Now, propelled by their love of late 70's British and German electronic music, they have teamed with legendary 4AD/Mute producer/engineer John Fryer (Depeche Mode/Cocteau Twins/Wire) to produce their third full-length album. For the past several months, the band have been stockpiling vintage synthesizers and effects to take their epic sound in a completely new direction. The first evidence of this will be "We Are Not Cool" - a seven inch vinyl release previewing the sound of the new album.
