What is this game all about?

DiceAFARI™ (dice + safari), the latest board game from Stratus Games, takes players on a photo safari adventure that not only has an endearing theme, but is also strategic, interactive, and lots of fun for families and gamers alike.

In DiceAFARI™, players create animal-shaped maps using tiles that represent various African terrains. On each turn, the current player rolls custom dice to select a route to visit during the safari, then takes a photo of one of the exotic animals found in the area. After the whole map has been visited, points are scored for the best sets of photographs taken and the areas most recently visited.

The inclusion of various maps offers a high amount of replay value, as each map affects the routes that players can take on the safari and the number of photos available. The custom Safari Dice and Bonus Die provide a good balance of luck and strategy in determining a route to select, and the ability to revisit an area leads to fun interaction with other players. In addition, the game also comes with 3 Optional Rules for additional strategy and variation.

What is the current state of the game?

DiceAFARI™ has been thoroughly tested, tweaked, refined, and enjoyed by numerous playtesters of all ages, ranging from casual game players to serious gamers. The final artwork for the game is currently underway. After the artwork is completed, the next step is to send it off to production and wait for our pristine finished products to arrive. The anticipated release of this game will be in June, 2012.

Is $5,000 enough to make a high quality game?

Not even close. At Stratus Games, we pride ourselves on high quality production, and are dedicated to putting the same amount of effort in creating a quality finished product for DiceAFARI™ as we have for our previous games. One need only look to reviews of our other games to get an idea of our commitment to quality.

This is why we will be investing a great deal of our own money into the creation of this game, as well. There are a lot of expenses in creating and producing a great game, including professional artwork and graphic design, manufacturing with top components, safety testing, and shipping, to name a few. We are exceeding our budget on this project, and that’s why we need your help. Please support our campaign to help us cover all of these costs and make this game the very best it can be.

What is the Double Map Card?

A larger DiceAFARI™ map can be created by combining the components of two or more games together, which provides a longer, more strategic game. The Double Map Card that is included with certain pledge levels will be a double-sided card containing 2 large maps that require 2 copies of the game in order to play.

A Note about Shipping

All rewards include free shipping in the CONTINENTAL U.S.

For CANADA and NON-CONTINENTAL U.S. backers – please add $10 for shipping (per package, not per copy). For other INTERNATIONAL backers – please add $20 for shipping (per package, not per copy).

In order for us to keep shipping costs low for everyone, all rewards will ship out as one shipment once the final game is available, unless otherwise noted in the pledge description.

Shipments for Kickstarter backers will be sent out before other pre-orders or sales to retailers or distributors.
