We, the Stony Brook Vocalists, have been longing to produce a full-fledged album since our inception in 2007. We hope this is our time!
Hello there, potential donor! Thank you for visiting the page of The Vocalists. For those of you who don't know or haven't watched the video yet--we are THE co-ed a cappella group from Stony Brook University. You can read all about us and our crazy at http://www.stonybrookvocalists.com.
"So what is this project?"
The Vocalists are forging an attempt to raise at least $3,000 for our first studio produced album.
"Why don't you guys just ask your University to give you money? After all, you pay them thousands of dollars to go there..."
Right you are! But our school won't fund us so long as we hold auditions. Even though we begged for the last four years. To keep our group strong and prosperous auditions are something we cannot do without (as much as we love passionate singers and money). Fortunately, this has led us to you!
"So you guys are like that TV show Glee?"
More or less. We have to go to class and stuff, and our group is led only by students, but all things considered--we are exactly like them.
"What is the money going towards?"
The world of collegiate a cappella is growing more expensive and competitive every semester. Prices for developing a decent a cappella record has shot up to the lots-of-thousands over the past decade. While this number strikes fear in many a cappella groups who never get the chance to record--not The Vocalists. Every dime that is pledged to this project will be put into producing a life-changing a cappella record of extraordinary talent and creativity.
"All right, what's the game plan?"
If we raise $3,000+, we will finally be able to get our foot into the studios that know how to truly produce an a cappella CD. With the rise of shows like The Sing-Off and Glee there's no better time to be making this type of often-overlooked music.
"Will you love me forever if I donate?"
We'll love you forever even if you don't, but if you help us record this album, you can listen to us forever. If you truly cannot help us, you are wrong! Submit our Kickstarter project to places like Twitter and Facebook so more people hear about us.
