Big Crits is a web-based reality show about World of Warcraft raiders. Until reaching out to here, the show was entirely self-funded.
TL;DR - 100% of the funding from Kickstarter will be paid to editors to turn out more videos, more episodes, and new shows.
There have been two great roadblocks in producing this show: logistics and funding. I hit a logistics bump early on in Season 1 but quickly ironed it out and got back on track. Then, a few weeks ago in the middle of Season 2, I hit a funding roadblock. Being entirely self-funded, this was an inevitable consequence, it just happened sooner than I anticipated.
You’ll see from the video that I initially planned to put this out at the start of Season 2, back in late September. I should have stuck with the plan. Anyone in Big Crits will tell you: “have a plan!” I had one; I just didn’t stick with it. So here we are in the end of Season 2 with Season 3 looming large around the corner, all the while the editors and Stoney are going hungry.
100% of this funding will go to the editors to pay for more episodes, and not just episodes for the main show, but for new shows as well. We’re going to do a PvP edition, a news & commentary feature, boss guides, and more. Truly, it will be epic.
And speaking of epic, in the works is an all-access pass to Big Crits called Epic Edition. Subscribers to the Epic Edition get full access to every single featured player video. Every single one. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, every featured player has their own style, and it will all be available to members of Big Crits Epic Edition. If you help support Big Crits here on Kickstarter I’ll give you an all-access pass to come and see all the great stuff that gets left on the cutting room floor.
It’s worth mentioning that I do earn a small payment for our participation in Machinima.com’s channel, Realm. It’s great to be a part of such a fantastic company, but the payment is not enough to cover editor fees, unless we end up getting over 100,000 views per episode. Getting to that level is one of the goals of this show, and I’m working on that too! But for now, Kickstarter will help me get the show to the next level.
Many of you have asked how you can help, what you can do to contribute; here it is. Will this pay for everything? No, but it will be enough to keep the episodes coming for the next few months while I work full-time to see Big Crits fulfill its true potential.
