Hi all! Thanks for the patience, we've had more delay in our next update as we're pushing hard to finish a milestone. We've delayed the next update for a bit longer than usual.

A new update in KS would be appreciated. You don't have to do something as detailed as the last one, though.

@ Stoic I did thanks. Not sure if it went through or not but I'm pretty sure it did. Looking forward to getting one I can frame and place on a wall. Keep up the hard work.

@Nicholas - no, we can still gladly replace your poster. Use the "contact me" button on the right (by the Stoic logo) and send us a message with your current address. Thanks!

No. I had no idea how to or that you were doing something. I assume it's too late?

Hi Nicholas. A long time ago we asked people with damaged posters to contact us about re-sending them. Have you contacted us?

Creator Nicholas Totton on April 10

I know this was a long time ago, but I just assumed nothing was going to be done so I never looked into it at the time. Did you guys ever do anything for those of us who go their posters in the mail and they were ripped to dog shit? Still really bitter for spending the extra money to up my pledge for the poster only to have it arrive ripped and destroyed.

Loving the updates in how they each show meaningful information, not just an update to appease backers. Take the time needed to make BS all it can be. A project is late only until it releases, a shitty project is shiity forever. (I think thats how kojima quote went!)

      Creator Stoic on April 2

@Stephen - crests will be uploadable in the final game, no deadline.

@Patrick - yes, we will have an update this week with single player progress.

Creator Patrick Devine on April 2

Hey guys, any update on the single player game? I don't really have a lot of time to play the multiplayer game or sift through the forums to try and find out updates. Unlike certain game magazine editors, however, I really do enjoy reading about what progress you're making.

    13. Missing_small

I haven't heard anything about the family Crests in a while, and I'm not a forum goer, though I have signed up. Am I too late to submit a crest still (I backed at the appropriate level)

Stoic's main website seems to be down. Anyone know what's going on?

    16. Web_stoic2_square.small

      Creator Stoic on March 18

@Nate: in the options panel you can permanently toggle chat on/off. In the near future we are adding functionality to let you mute or report a specific player if they are griefing. Unfortunately, Steam has no built-in report feature.

    17. Desertavatarpic-l.small

      Creator Nate on March 17

I'm afraid hiding the chat repeatedly isn't the kind of disabled I'd prefer. Having to read every dirty word someone knows strung together in nonsensical fashion and then hiding the window each battle is bad enough, to say nothing of the players who will not advance the game until they're replied to in chat.

    18. Web_stoic2_square.small

      Creator Stoic on March 17

@Nate: chat can be disabled in two different places.

    19. Desertavatarpic-l.small

That's quite a community you've got going in Factions. Will not be playing that again until chat can be disabled.

Creator Nigel Lau on March 12

@Rick They haven't actually delivered the game yet. Only the free MP section of the game (which really is a testbed for the combat mechanics). Successful project includes delivering a game within a reasonable timeframe. What is a reasonable timeframe in your estimation?. At least they are communication with backers which is a HUGE plus ...

I know what you mean but I'll give the benefit of the doubt. At the same time I do want to play the multiplayer but I haven't had the application successfully launch in days.

    24. Cyclone_logo_1_.small

      Creator Indoclone on March 9

My problem is that, we are promised the single player first!! If they want to release the MP before hand and we are not late in the schedule I don't think nobody will be complaining. The fact that it's almost 6 months late and then they release a free MP with a small element of micro transactions, that what I have a problem with, and I think that's why a lot of people are upset
      .

    25. Image-241770-full.small

Creator Jordan York on March 5

@Sean - I was not referring to a single-player campaign. I was active in this kickstarter project enough to know that much :p What I was referring to was a practice mode or player vs. CPU mode in Factions. I don't care about the story (at this point in time), I just want a place where I can practice and try out new builds without worrying about my ranking. And if I spend time playing the game, even vs a CPU, I think it'd be worth a bit of renown, even if its just from the kills. We earn it slow enough already :p Just my thoughts on the subject.

    26. Octoks.small

      Creator Bryy on March 3

      @Angelyote,

What bait and switch? That the game got delayed? News flash for 'ya: Kickstarter isn't going to magically get rid of game dev time.

    27. Missing_small

Creator Blunt Pencil on March 2

Just wanted to say I just played Factions for the first time and good lord, you guys are making an absolutely beautiful game. I'm loving the combat and the art is to die for. I can't wait for the singleplayer installments to come out and am glad (though anxious!) to hear you guys are taking the time you need to get it done proper.

    28. Twoguys.small

      Creator Sean on February 28

@Jordan York As I understand it the single player will be released separate from the f2p installment, so I doubt there's crossover renown. You can't even get renown from playing with people you know. There will be 'The Banner Saga', the single player game, and Factions, the cash in. [I'm only joking, please don't internet shitstorm. I enjoy the multiplayer, the f2p elements I could do without, but it's a minor gripe.]

    29. Image-241770-full.small

Creator Jordan York on February 28

Any rough estimate how long it will it be until we have the option to play vs AI? Also, will we earn renown (even in a reduced form) for those player vs CPU games?

Any word on other platforms, specifically the Vita?

    31. Web_stoic2_square.small

Lag definitely reared its head when 1000 people are playing, instead of the 100 or so we'd see in beta. Fortunately, we're fixing it.

    32. Cuteavatar.small

Creator Morten Hellesø Johansen on February 27

The game suffers from horrific lagging and bugs.

    33. Chimerat%20avatar.small

Creator Céline .S. Sauvé on February 27

@saluk There used to be a stage where you positioned your units before the match... Are you saying they removed that for some reason?

    34. Missing_small

      Creator trisenk on February 27

@saluk - one other thing - in Factions your characters are instatly healed and ready for action after each match. I recall Stoic saing that in singleplayer campaign it won't be the case - wounds will take time to heal. So careful positioning and engagement will be even more important.

    35. Missing_small

      Creator trisenk on February 27

@saluk - apart from game stability, everything else is done on purpose and it's part of the great tactical depth of Factions. I cannot agree on any of your points. If you are bored with moving your troops into positions than Factions may not be a game for you.

    36. Twoguys.small

      Creator Sean on February 27

So the game crashes every time a round ends... seems to be happening to a wide swath of players.

    37. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Lionel Belen on February 27

There are some server issues cos of the massive influx of players from the public launch. On swing and miss...did you, besides playing the tutorial, take some time to understand it? That's probably because your swinging at someone who had full armor and you did not break it.

On the other issues...well it depends for people...this isn't chess, but you don't start a positional game like chess with everyone in range of each other. Similar principle.

Anyway...sorta sad to hear you didn't like it. I've been having a blast, and so have a lot of other backers and players. Its really fun!

    38. Missing_small

      Creator saluk on February 26

Oh and RNG is awful as well. Swing and a miss, now wait 12 turns to try again. Unbelievable.

    39. Missing_small

      Creator saluk on February 26

I've been trying to get into factions, because I love the artwork and this was one of the first projects I pledged into. I have some very big issues with the game though. The tutorial is well and good, but the games against opponents just drag on. I think having the multiplayer come out before the single player story we though we were going to get would have been a better pill to swallow if the game was, I dunno, fun.

      My issues:
      1) the arena starts the characters so far apart it takes too many turns before anything interesting happens. It's just jostling for position. Maybe there is strategy in this portion of the game, but its too dull to look for. A better solution would be to have less space between opponents and have a set-up phase where you have some room to decide where each character deploys.

      2) 1 character per turn. If I want to get someone in place to attack, I will usually have to take 2 or 3 turns to get there. Thanks to 1cpt, waiting 3 turns means waiting, in a 6v6, 18 turns to actually use him. By the time his turn comes up again, the landscape has changed and I dont even remember why I put him there. Without being able to see the flow of the game, cause and effect, I am having a hard time learning the strategy - or even caring to learn it. If 1cpt is it, I think I am out.

      3) The constant shield tapping idle animation with sound effect grates on my nerves.

      4) stability. I'm in the middle of a match and the game crashes. That's OK, I was so bored I was going to surrender anyway. No longer can you say "oh it's beta".

If the combat in the single player game is as boring as it is in multiplayer, I almost want a refund. At least the ai would be faster to decide on their actions though...

I'm happy that I only lost 10 dollars on this Kickstarter, it could have been worse.
The real lose, as I see it, is to the kickstarter movement. It's bait and switch projects like this one that drive people, including myself, away from funding other projects.

    41. Aerotank.small

      Creator Valery on February 23

Considering I'm only waiting for the Linux version these news basically tell me to say "bye-bye" to this game in foreseeable future (I can not predict what will happen in 2014-2015). Signs are pointing towards cancelling of the port right now.
Yeah..."optimism" is my second name. :-)

    42. Stickittome_rick_ks.small

      Creator Rick on February 22

Yeah I don't get all the people complaining about the multiplayer. This has always been planned. While I didn't expect the campaign to become available one year after the multiplayer (which was the cause of my disappointment), I can live with it simply because Stoic has shown that it can actually deliver the game. I'm not enamored of the cash shop, but ultimately I don't really care anyway.

So those of you who thought that it was as single player game, Arnie and company have already said that yes it is, but it will be delayed because it's 700% bigger. Factions is a proof of concept, play it or not, it's going to be part of the campaign. You'll end up playing it in some form now or later.

In the meantime, there's a massive amount of games out there to keep you busy until Chapter One is ready. Boot up your consoles or launch your Steam/Origin/UPlay/Desura/GFWL or whatever, and leave Stoic to finish the game we backed.

      the rest i hate it.
thanks for wasting my time and money.
maybe i never i will baker a project by stoic. they have not word.
in my country the word of a man its the most important thing if you dont have it, you are unreliable.
my old boss have not word and he lost the company.
you can lie but sooner or later the people will notice and you lost your credibility, you lost your word.
      im very disappointed.

    44. Image-241770-full.small

Creator Jordan York on February 22

@trisenk - Agreed. It's actually because of the feedback given by many on the forums that the combat system and game interface have been designed the way that they are today. Most of the negativity seems to be coming from people who are unable to play Factions (Linux) or simply are only interested in a SP experience.

    45. Missing_small

      Creator trisenk on February 22

@Jamie Dutton: Actually Stoic forum (http://stoicstudio.com/forum/) is very civilized and friendly to newcomers. That's propably because pretty much everyone there wants to at least try Factions before voicing his opinion :) So - no flame wars, no trolling, just a factual discussion on how to make combat better.

    46. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Paulo Andrade on February 21

I backed up a lot of projects and I learn my lesson: don't waste your money in Kickstarter. Most of the time they change what was promissed to deliver. This is just another case. Instead of focusing on the single player game, we have to wait another full year to have what we paid for, a single player game, that will, for sure, suffer from the loss of resources to the development of the multiplayer game. Kickstarter no more.

Wow, I feel like I'm in a game forum full of 12 year old boys. No wonder I absolutely despise game forums and avoid them like plague-infected rats. Its a good thing this thing got funded before all the nasty comments or I would have never pledged. I almost didn't back Republique because of all the nastiness on their comments section. Lost track of how many projects I've avoided because of the rancor and trolling in the comments. Don't think I'll be coming back here to check or go anywhere near the Stoic forums if this is how it is. Have enough drama going on in my REAL life to want any of it online.
Sorry, Stoic, but I am still looking forward to playing once it's been released. Good luck with everything and I hope you can convince them to put down the torches and pitchforks!
