A stop-animation made entirely out of plants and adhesive. Loosely based on Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man (but with ladies).
What?
LADY is a found-foliage experimental animation project.
Based loosely on Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man, LADY is a series of girl-centric vignettes that will be stop animated on one large-scale plane.
Who?
Me. And you! And all our friends!
Our first found-foliage movie, MAMA, was 90% constructed and shot in one night, with the help of good friends. Everyone followed a storyboard, and constructed their own "set" of flowers and foliage. This model worked really well, and we plan to reproduce it with this animation. If you live in the St. Louis area, please consider joining us on Monday May 28 and Tuesday May 29 to construct LADY.
Why?
Stop animation is beautiful. And there's something magic about old-school do-it-by-hand storytelling.
How?
Using a team of volunteers over the course of two days, we will construct a large 3'x5' set- using only plants and adhesive.
$1,500 will cover the cost of tons and tons of flowers, food for the volunteers, dvd and packaging materials, and festival entry fees. (The budget is based on the scale of our last plant animation, made on a budget of $50, vs. the scale of this project.)
