Six original pen & ink drawings based on subjects related to Lake Superior, starting in Duluth, MN ending in Grand Marais, MN
Gitche Gumee Inked
This is part one of the four part series, Gitche Gumee Inked. The four parts divide the entire circumference of Lake Superior, (Githce Gumee is the Ojibwe name for the lake made popular in Henry Wadsworth Longfellows 1855 poem, The Song of Hiawatha), into four geographical segments. I will be taking hundreds of photographs in each part and pick out the six best images from each geographical segment that I believe capture the essence of that particular area of Lake Superior. Once I have six subjects picked out for this first part, I will create six original pen & ink drawings of subjects which will include, natural, industrial, historical and maybe even wildlife if I'm lucky enough to catch some on film!
This image is a sample of a what my work looks like, it's a picture I inked a few years ago and is representative of the subjects in the Gitche Gumee Inked series.
What I'm doing on Kickstarter, is basically "pre-selling" my work. You are able to purchase items from this series of drawings, such as notecards, limited edition prints, framed or unframed, or the originals themselves. The various levels of support are listed to the right of this page. Through your backing of this project, I will be able to expedite the Gitche Gumee Inked series and get my final goal of creating a book based on all four parts in this series published sooner.
