About this project

In 2006, I flew to Spokane Washington to begin a project that would take up the next few years of my life. What began as my debut world-wide solo e.p., turned in to the freshman record by my new band THE BLACK DOVES.

Completely self-funded, it would end up taking nearly two years to complete. In those two years I learned a great deal about humanity and humility. For a solo project that was budgeted at around $1800 our end result was a $6000 CD containing 10 good songs wrapped in an incredibly cool package (designed by our friend Darren Paul at Iceplanet Design in Fort Worth, TX).

One of the songs, "Ask Me To", would go on to win a national songwriting award. In our first few months as a band, we were selected to play on The Warped Tour. We've had a great deal of success and a great deal of disappointment since then. Touring in support of the record, we knew we had a really good album, yet we knew that it needed more.

The truth is, we never felt like we'd given Moments of Clarity all that we had. Due to recording in three different studios and with four different producers we feel that the album lacked the vision and continuity that a great producer provides. Additionally, we had ZERO front-funding, and it became a monster that we just wanted to FINISH instead of truly focusing on making it GREAT!

Here's where you can help us reach that goal. We have the songs, we have the talent, we have the studio and we have the producer...we just need you. With your monetary support we can give the next album everything Moments of Clarity lacked....a truly professional recording under the supervision of a world-respected producer in a world class studio.

We don't expect you to give your donation with no return...for every pledge there is a prize. Ranging from signed copies of the record prior to release, to lifetime backstage passes, to a Gibson Flying V autographed by the band, we promise to make it worth your while.
Unfortunately, if we do not raise the full $15,000 by January 10th, 2010, we'll get nothing, you won't get your prize, and all will be lost! Without your help "DISCOVERING GRAVITY" might never be released!

We would like to make a promise to you as well...if we reach our goal by January and the album reaches it's funding goals we will donate a percentage of our album sales to an organization we truly believe in: To Write Love On Her Arms.
