Update #3: MAGNIFICENT PIGTAIL SHADOW...has begun.
Hey Everybody,
Steven Cerio checkin' in about the Magnificent Pigtail shadow project.
Well...first of all...THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!
The funds you provided bought the Canon Vixia HD camera I had my eye on....which is an exceptional piece of equipment by the way. I was able to get an exceptional deal on the price !! It's enabled me to manipulate shots and utilize my handmade filters and lens' as well. I've stocked up on extra batteries for long shoots, purchased a Velbon tripod, a WAV recorder, and covered travel expenses so far.
I finished the script (which I will make freely available after the film is released) after more than 50 edits. I took off to Stable Studios in beautiful Portsmouth , RI for a recording session with Kristin Hersh. She narrated the entire film with that stunning voice of hers. I dont know how her speaking voice manages to be as beautiful as her singing voice ...but it does.(Go to kristinhersh.com to hear her music ...you are in for a treat) The final recording is, well...I'm VERY excited.
The shooting has begun. I've already shoot in the Adirondacks, miles of East Coast shores and dozens of forests through NY, Mass and Rhode Island.
The soundtrack is almost complete. Expect violoins, harps, a dozen guitarists (not at once), pianos, percussion, harmonica, cello etc. Ben Miller (Destroy all Monsters) was the most recent contributor as well as Georgette Nicolaides who plays violin with my Atlantic Drone project (on Circadia Records). If it finishes as well as I expect I hope to release it officially. Either way, I will make mp3's available to you.
There is also a screenprinted book in the works to accompany the dvd. I'm creating new work as well as using sketches for the film...and possibly some stills.
Well, Thanks again. sincerely. Your encourage in words and contribution means a lot to me I've attached some shots my friend Jeffrey Eplett shot of me hiking thru hill and dale looking for shots(probably not too smart wearing camo in a forest during hunting season...I realize that now!!)....there's also a still of me setting up a recording session for the soundtrack.
Best XXOO I'll be in touch soon. Steven Cerio
Update #2: Project update
Hey everyone,
I'm polishing up the script. Close to a final draft now.
Singer, songwriter Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses, 50FOOTWAVE) .... is now on board to read the narration - hers will be the only voice in the film... I couldn't be more excited about it. I got some test audio from her a couple weeks ago. If you're not familiar with her ... please familiarize yourself at ...... www.kristinhersh.com
Hope you're all well. Busy here trying to get the site ready, recording the soundtrack for the film and saving snapping turtles from the road.
Best,
Steven

Steven Cerio has spent over two decades relentlessly documenting a universe devoid of death and decay. His work is most often identified with the elaborate, “polished” line-work and “reflective, germ-free, sugary shine” that led to a decade-long, ongoing collaboration with San Francisco-based, performance art group, The Residents. His video and animation work with The Residents was inducted into the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) with ceremony and screening. His vinyl figures, depicting the group, are currently available in the MOMA store.
After a quick stop at Jacaeber Kastor’s iconic gallery, Psychedelic Solution, Steven spent the next decade working as a freelance artist in New York City before relocating his studio to scenic Baldwinsville, NY. He is currently an adjunct professor at Syracuse University and is busy working on a variety of projects including: a book, a new gallery series of painting and sculptural work as well as a selection of prints exploring a range of experimental approaches.
A selection of his work was recently licensed for use in the upcoming Comedy Central sitcom “Workaholics”.
Hey Everyone,
I've almost made it through the winter here in Central NY....'twas a mean one too! I got some great winter shots of frozen waterfalls and icebergs on Ontario.
Anyway...I've FINISHED the soundtrack and Kristin Hersh's reading/narration is complete...AND I'm done shooting and the editing has begun. I'm busy boiling down 16hours of shots into a 44 minute film. I'll have plenty of extras for the dvd.
Oh...I also have heard from 3 theatres about showing it here and in Europe. (If you know of any Art Cinemas in your area let me know.)
AND...Mr. Marc Arsenault at Wow Cool pubs will be releasing the dvd w/ a 16 page color book when its prepared.
I'm VERY excited. Thank you to all of the contributors once again. You will all receive the dvd as soon as it is completed as well as the other goodies you were promised. I'm looking forward to you all seeing it!!!
If you have any questions..PLEASE don't hesitate to email me at eggplant9437@yahoo.com.
Best, Steven Cerio PS I've been trying unsuccessfully to attach photos here...if you are curious to see some stills PLEASE email me.
Well...I shot through the entire summer of 2011...accumulated another 14 hours of footage to edit through. KC Duggan is inboard helping me with editing. I designed a computer to finish the project...16gigs of ram, video card with another gig, 8 tb of storage, quad-core processor...!!!! Needless to say, it has sped the process up considerably.
The soundtrack is complete as well as the packaging. I designed a 3 color screen print that will be published by Steve Walters at Screwball Press, Chicago this winter.
Marc at Wow Cool wants the finished project for release in March 2011...I"M ALMOST THERE !!!
I will be touring the EAST coast, WEST coast and MIDWEST in April 2012. I'll post the locations and dates as I recieve them from the booking agent.
I will be signing copies of my next book as well. Wow Cool is publishing it for release in early 2012. It is a collection of my artwork along with the work of HOMER FLYNN and LEIGH BARBIER. All 3 of us have contributed to projects for THE RESIDENTS thru Homer who runs their inhouse graphics dept POREKNOW GRAPHICS.
I'll check in soon .
Best and THANK YOU,
STEVEN CERIO XXXOOO
