About this project
Our acting company is putting on a production of "The Visit" by Friedrich Durrenmatt this summer at the Tulsa SummerStage 2010. We received a grant from the Tulsa Performing Arts Center to receive the space and we chose the Visit because of it's timely topics to the world around us.
The story takes place in Gullen, a city in Central Europe. The townspeople are on the verge of bankruptcy and need help, fast! It just so happens that the richest woman in the world, Claire Zachanassian, is coming to the town of her birth for a visit. It's up to Anton Schill to get the money from her, but unbeknownst to him, it may cost him his life. Will the town put the needs of the many before the needs of the few? Will prosperity win over human decency? Find out June 24th through June 27th at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
We have cast the play with about 25+ actors and have found it considerably hard to get funds for the set costs, costume construction, which is extremely vital to the show, and the various other incidental needs for the production. We are moving with the production, and are looking for sponsors to help us get going.
You can find out more about us at http://www.actorsoftulsa.org or at http://www.youtube.com/actorsoftulsa.
Somethings in the works:
-We have been doing actor profiles for all of our cast members. These cast members are being introduced one at a time on our YouTube channel. That can be located at http://www.youtube.com/actorsoftulsa
-We have reduced our ticket prices for early birds to $8 dollars for people who buy their tickets early. They can be purchased at http://bit.ly/killschill. So buy those ticket early
-We have been going out to give promotional material such as flyers and other such things to places such as our own Mayfest this last week. (we also saw the Cherry Poppin Daddies) This bonded us as a cast and allowed us to meet the audience and the people of Mayfest. It is an important thing for us to connect with the community that we live in and this is a way in which we can directly do it.
-We had a week of table rehearsal that allowed us to converse about the script, and really get into the text, making connections with the other actors. We also worked on relationships and action-objective with each actor.
-We start blocking this weekend, and will continue to go through the script, putting the show on it's feet and getting going.
