Build your ship, manage your crew, explore the universe. Star Command takes you across the galaxy to discover alien life, engage in epic battles and discover the mysteries of deep space. Our team here at Warballoon is working hard on the alpha for Star Command, coming (fingers crossed) this year to iOS and Android. Taking influences from X-Com, Game Dev Story and The Sims, Star Command is a game where you are the creator, captain and crew.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Star Command is an ambitious project - and much more engrossing than your typical mobile game. Making a game this grandiose takes time and effort, and we still have a lot hard work ahead of us. The funds generated from Kickstarter allow us to:
- Hire extra talent for things like music, sound effects and additional platform development like Android
- Promote and market to help sell the game and fund future expansions and possible sequels
- Localize the game to other regions like Europe and Asia

ABOUT THE GAME
BUILD YOUR SHIP
Players will customize their ship in their own image - scientific players can build facilities for research and exploration. Tactical commanders can build heavy and powerful battleships. Diplomatic players can construct entertainment areas and quarters for visiting emissaries. Every ship is unique, and every time you play the game changes depending on your approach.
RESEARCH NEW TECHNOLOGIES
Research will unlock new areas to explore, new rooms to build, new weapons to install, upgrades to shields and unlocking abilities to meet new civilizations.
RECRUIT YOUR CREW
As players build their ship they can also expand their crew. Crew members are assigned a job and gain new abilities, leveling-up as they go. As new species are discovered, players can participate in crew-exchanges, hiring alien crew members for their ship.
EXPLORE THE UNIVERSE
Once you build a ship and hire your crew, you can travel deeper into new sectors to explore the mysteries of the universe. Players can discover strange planets, conduct away missions, explore derelict ships and conduct diplomacy with strange civilizations.
ENGAGE IN EPIC BATTLES
Players can encounter hostile ships, forcing you to actively fight with your ship. Weapons are armed, shields are charged and the crew takes battle stations. Crew members can be electrocuted, melted, liquified or sucked into the vacuum space - raising the stakes in every encounter.
INVADERS!
Whether your shields have been disabled or an unknown life form has found its way on board your ship, players will be tasked with defending their ship. In an X-Com style combat system, players will attack invaders, hiding in rooms and even sending crew to their certain doom for the survival of your ship.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR CREW
As you explore the universe, your crew will discover rare artifacts, plants, animals and other strange objects. You will have the ability to equip your crew with these special objects, giving your crew armor, new uniforms and even pets or other power-ups

We're currently shooting for a Holiday 2011 release. But the game is rather large - so the ultimate rule is when its awesome, it will be out.

The beta is estimated to be in October 2011. However we are still deciding how to choose applicants - but kickstarter help is a big plus.

Warballoon consists of four members: Jordan Coombs, Designer and Art Director; Justin Coombs, Designer and Art Director; Steve Tranby Developer Guru and Parker Coombs Assistant Designer.

We love X-Com. We really think its the greatest game ever made on any console. Period. We're also big Civilization fans, Team Fortress 2 (look for clan deadbaby), Tie Fighter, The Sims (dollhouse for men), Game Dev Story and a lot of other titles. We try and balance instant gratification with deep, "just one more turn" type game play.

Right now - no. We do anticipate we will need an Android developer in the near future to make the conversion from iOS, but we will make a posting on our site/twitter/facebook/kickstarter pages when we're getting close.

The quickest, and basically only path to success, on the Android and iPhone market places is with sales. If we gave the game away, our #1 asset which is our fans, would be gone on day one. We have done our best to offset that by giving you every piece of DLC we ever produce for free - so you've got that going for you.
