The Squirrel Hillbillies — an acoustic folk, country and blues duo from Pittsburgh, PA — are producing a CD of all original songs.
The Squirrel Hillbillies, an acoustic duo from the urban hills of Pittsburgh's East End, have been doing a fair amount of scurrying about these days and along the way they've run into a lot of interesting folks: an old country band guitar player with a touch of wanderlust, a sensual woman with a tenuous grip on reality (see video, above), an unconventional fellow with a penchant for dancing with chickens, a burly female truck driver with coveted season tickets to the Steelers, a rather aggressive rutabaga looking for a fight, and many others. Now, as a lasting tribute to these colorful characters featured in their original songs, duo partners Jenny Wolsk Bain and Gary Crouth are recording their debut CD. They've launched this Kickstarter campaign to get the word out, in the hopes that when the acorns start falling and they get a hankering to scamper outside and play, their friends will chase them back into the studio to finish what they set out to do.
Donors at the $20 level will receive a copy of the Squirrel Hillbillies' new CD and free admission to the release party this fall. Funds will be used to help underwrite the costs of professional mastering and replication services.
