Check out the photo and video from our 2009 production of Cuckoo Wouldn't you like to be part of choosing the next play on Jump! Theatre's mainstage?
Springboard V - April 23-25, will showcase original works selected by Jump! during a call for artists throughout the Bay Area.
Where else can you see fresh, engaging new theater with stories like:
• one woman's experiences with seeing psychic auras
• the challenges and joys of recovery from bipolar disorder
• the exploits of a reclusive writer and the woman who answers his knock
• a play with music about a father and his lost daughter;
Not to mention a FULL LENGTH staged reading of Elizabeth Gjelten's Hunter's Point.
Hunter's Point is a multi-media play that asks: What is 'moral treatment' of the homeless mentally ill, and what prevents our society from providing it? The play layers music and video projections, juxtaposes realistic dialogue with the language of dreams, and grounds poetic and experimental theatrical techniques in an accessible story with vivid characters and settings that are deeply rooted in San Francisco. Directed by Christine Young, Jump! received a grant from the Theatre Bay Area's CA$H Program to fund the development of this amazing play.
For the Friday and Saturday performances of Springboard V, you will have an opportunity to take the FIRST LOOK at the plays and excerpts of plays that Jump! Theatre is considering for further development, to take a path much like we have with Hunter's Point.
