My name is La Mar "spinach" Williams II, and my attraction to journalism has everything to do with me being heavily drawn to people who make things -- craftworks, illustrations, music, games -- anything. I've worked in videojournalism off and on over the last decade. I've been known to play a videogame on occasion.
Thanks, both of you! Spread the word!
Wish I could swing more of a donation. Good luck, make it awesome, and have a blast doing it!
this is great, man!
if i end up getting a job, i'll be pledging more!
Hi,Eliot! Most of the footage shot in that trailer was on a GL2 -- it's a really good camera. I'm really glad to have your support, and if you want to get more involved, the best thing right now is to get the word out.
Oh and I guess I forgot to mention, I FREAKIN' LOVE INDIE GAMES! :)
This sounds like an awesome project! I am a film student at Chapman University and a game developer hobbyist looking to break into the industry after I graduate from school. I also own a Canon GL-2 3CCD MiniDV camera (it shoots high-quality standard definition video). I would love to be more involved with this project if I have time, at any stage of production - probably this summer or later if I don't land an internship. Shoot me a message if you're interested!
Hi, Troy! I'm not looking at anything really high-end, though I probably could rent a really good camera and keep the budget at about the same point.
Sounds like a great idea, and you made an excellent choice for the first interview, Majesty of Colors is fantastic.
Funding question: while you mention that you'll use the funds to purchase necessary equipment which you'll then donate -- which is fantastic -- I'd be curious how much your funding goal could be reduced (thus improving your odds of meeting it) if you rented the necessary equipment? For high-end digital cameras, the rental cost over 4 weeks can often be 1/10th the cost or less of purchasing it new.
Thanks! And good luck!
