Location, Location, Location!

Greetings Hunters, Boss Beaters and Ninja Fashionistas, 

5 days and 75k remaining in the campaign. This is going to be a nail-biter! Fortunately, we have big, pointy, nasty teeth and massive claw-like nails, so we're prepared to deliver some epic nail biting action. The final week contains lots of new press targeting Germany and France plus additional live interviews, podcasts and the LAUNCH of "Akaneiro" on SpicyWorld and Kongregrate. All that should add up to a positive finish. Fingers (and claws) crossed!

Super tester hiragi once again delivers the goods with today's screenshots. The emphasis today is on another aspect of the game we feel sets it apart from your typical, run of the mill ARPG. Some have even said our locations and art direction give Diablo 3 a run for its money. Sacrilege or serious contender? You be the judge. 

First up, a lightning strike. Weather and seasons play a significant role on Yomi Island, helping to communicate mood and the passing of time. Expect to adventure through blizzards, thunderstorms, fog and more. Spring, summer, fall and winter are all on the calendar with enough in-game fashion to match the seasons and avoid the fashion police as you walk the red carpet of demon entrails. 

Moving on... Perhaps you'd prefer to stay dry and avoid the elements? Then spelunking's for you! Caves dot the landscape of "Akaneiro," offering respite from the weather outside. Unfortunately, the demons and Amano, tired of being constantly heckled by the paparazzi, have also taken refuge underground. When it all gets to be too much and you find yourself at the end of your rope, there are nice bridges where you can rest... forever. 

Storms and caves are no fun. Let's not forget there's also plenty of sunshine filtering through the forests. No self respecting ninja warrior would be anything other than sun-baked bronze under her mask and armor. So, clear out a peaceful space with sword and magic, then bask under the rays of the setting sun. Ahhh, a moment of zen.

      Not trying to sound negative, but if the campaign doesn't get through I hope that everyone who pledged, will head right there to donate.
      And yeah, the sunlight just stunned me when I saw it in game! The scenes lighting sometimes looks much better than in D3 or Torchlight 2. Really good job.
      Mr. McGee, how much of the light rendering comes straight from Unity and how much from your team's additional coding? Sorry, if it sounds lame...

      I'm really pleased to be able to support the game development, and artwork like this is a big reason why. Everyone who's seen it while I was playing has commented on the artistic style of the game.
      My son commented "How beautiful the sunlight through the trees is" on the exact same scene as your third shot.

      But an even bigger reason why I'm happy to back this is that I spent several of my childhood in Japan, exposed to folk tales of yokai and obake as part of the general culture (Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro and such.) You have captured the style and the spirit of those so well it's amazing - when I see the "Amano Wranglers" I think "Oh, those guys! I know them." I feel this is a game I had been waiting to play for years, if not decades, and I'd never realized it.

      I really hope you make your goal on Kickstarter, but if you don't, please set up some other way for your fans to donate so I can kick in.
