Filmmaker, historian and second-generation Cape Verdean born and raised in Fox Point. I am an Associate Professor of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College, and since 2007, I am a Visiting Scholar at Brown University in the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America, and a Swearer Center Community Fellow. I am founder and President of SPIA Media Productions, Inc., a production and distribution company specializing in media from the Africana Diaspora.
